So I'm not even allowed to say that a two parent household is preferable to a single parent one? I can't be the only one that thinks so. I realize no one wants to be labelled a 'hater' here but have you guys really lost the ability to see the difference between good and bad?

One good parent is better than 2 crappy parents. And I can tell you right now that I'm 32467812643826x better off having been raised by just my mother.

A single mom might work for a girl.....but in my opinion a boy needs a male role model in the household.

In my experience , guys that grew up in a single mother home lack discipline , and are usually sissys.

Just basing my opinion on my experience , so you can't really say that i'm wrong. I know what i've seen. Again "in my opinion" a father figure is vital for a male to develop properly.

My parents were divorced and remarried, my pops is a good man , my step dad .....not so much. But I had the benfit of two strong male figures in my life.

My step dad is involved in a male mentoring program in edmonton called "unlce's at large". Through that program (which is built on the male role model ideal) I met and actually befriended alot of guys my age who didn't have a father figure...after their MOTHERS enrolled them in the program and they had access to a male role model. The difference I saw in them as the years passed was like night and day.

It's great that you have a good mother. But having a good mother and father ( I know it's rare) is more beneficial then you will ever know. Especially for a guy.

^I guess. In my experience boys of single mum's usually have way more responsibility than boys w/ dads. But I'm sure that also depends on the mother too. I know lots of sissy boys w/ no responsibilities because daddy and mummy take care of it all. I think it all comes down to what the parent or parents are like.

I agree w/ the 2 parent thing. It's the best thing a child can have. But not all kids are that lucky.

Sorry, I didn't mean to knock on anyone's circumstances. It just gets a bit out of hand when we can no longer discern between what's good and bad. I don't *hate* people who choose single parenthood but i don't think it's helpful to make it totally benign sounding and acceptable, as other the other posters do. That's like calling a drug addiction an alternative lifestyle. It helps no one that way. And to clarify, I'm talking about those teenage girls who think having a baby would be 'fun' or who are reckless with who they sleep with.
