PS: Instead of complaing why dont you guys go out and suport them!?! How would YOU feel if your job placement was being taken advantage of and a bunch of (selfish) students told you to go fuck yoruself?

They are taking a huge finacial risk to them selfs goign on strike... understand and show some respect for them please and thank you.

I dont really agree with this... i dont think its selfish of students who paid for an education, and arent recieving that education to be pissed off about it. I dont totally know the situation from the strikers point of view, but i would be pretty pissed if sfu started fucking with my education because of some unions gripes...

i would understand if it wasnt a school... honestly u have no idea... it will most likely have an impact on us... why cant they find other measures... it is unfair to us..the students! we pay a lot of money to go to college.

It bothers me how ppl blame it on the ppl striking... when its the emplyers and big ministraters who let this happen. Havent you hered that the Union has been warning them for YEARS that they may go on strike!!! Belive me they dont want to go on strike, but their trying to defend themselfs.

My union may also go on strike as we are owed up to $200-$300 a month going back 2 years now. The big bosses think they can get away with it, however if they continue to think so we may go on strike too (wich I hope not) AND I WORK IN THE SCHOOLS WICH WILL BE CLOSE IF SO!

You guys should be pist off, I dont blame you... What im trying to say is be pist off at the right ppl. Your picking on those who have no control (as why their last resort is to strike) Its the big bosses who have been wrned about this for years and choose to do nothing about it... they could easly make a fair deal with the workers if it was that important. I find that comment rather ignorant and cruel. Either way someone has to clean your school, scrub your toilet, take care fo the grounds. Doesnt mean you can treat them with dis-respect and judge them.

My dad tells me all the time of students coming out of bcit/sfu with degree's applying for a job at BC hydro. The supervisor claimed everyone one of those students was curently working at supperstore or some other min wage job but could only hire 1 out of 12 fine applicants!!!

Go around and ask the ppl striking... what right do you have to say

they're gettin paid X amount of money to do a bloody office job (i'm just referring to one part of the faculty, i know theres other jobs within the faculty), in which they do it slowly and often poorly. they get regular hours with regular breaks/lunches and now they're asking for more money for their comfortable job. not to mention whatever benefits they get with the job. along with that, they're costing countless students their money and times.

i understand a striking situation if wages/other things are being cut, however from what i read about this situation, its just about gettin paid more... i find it ridiculous.

exaclty! Like I found out in my union. Im told we are owned up an extra $200-$300 a month and were the only district not getting that when we should. It goes back 2 years now for over 500 staff!!! Do you really think their going to pay us all that?

yeah, i can see why that would suck for you guys. Buts its not like they are all some fat cats who jack off at seeing poor people on the street. In order to pay you that back logged money they would have to make huuuge cuts in other areas, they have budgets to meet and they cant just drop all the other commitments they have just to pay you. Not to be an ass, but you have to look at both sides of the story. I dont know enough details to comment on the college situation (luckily it doesnt have an impact on me), but i say let the people whos education is being sacrificed for a stalemate in negotiations be pissed off, whatever side is to be blammed.
