And why don't you throw a party that size and do it the way you want to
If it works then I will respect you Until then you're just looking like an dummy to me (for example only a small percentage of really nice ticket sellers don't charge a service fee) Thats what I did. I used to throw small lil ghetto parties. I was so broke. If I didn't throw a lil party at The Spanish Cultural Ctr then I wouldn't eat. I didn't like the way massives were thrown so I decided that one day, I was gonna throw parties the way I wanna see them. With more action and more excitement. Not just dj's and lasers. I didn't know how I was gonna do it. But guess what....I did it I didn't sit on the internet and tell other people how to run their business. I led by example. We've been ultra successfull since then and have brought new standards to the Vancouver rave scene Maybe you should try that. Then you'd be educated on what works and what doesn't and why things are done. Maybe you could also set new standards to the scene Until then. your posts just look stupid to me. Sorry |

This kind of thing has happend MANY times to all kinds of sold out events.
Its wise when you know any event is sold out to get there early as the line up will be long, chaotic, and most important mistakes do happen! It does suck what you had to go through and im sorry to hear that, im sure your not the only one either :( However Dave does appoligise and props to him for at least offering you a refund as some promoters wont even bother with that. |

I don't know about the: you don't understand how tough it is to throw massives response...
We all know it's tough, but that's the challange you set out for yourself. Yes, Doom is being blunt, but he is still a customer. If you buy tickets to a hockey game and don't get in the staff would actually apolgize. And I think that's what Doom was looking for. He was mad and fustrated that he paid to get in but didn't. You were not apologitic in anyway. You pretty much said, I don't care, you try throwing a massive. Yes throwing a massive is tough, no, i don't understand because I've never done it. But at least appogize to the guy. I still respect you dave, I've been to your parties almost from the start (as was Dr.doom I should mention), but your seriously comming off as kinda an ass. |

Bobman's Brutally Simple Solution To Obvious Problem:
Instead of allowing ticket sales right up till the last minute (and yes, I know my ass has been saved by last minute sales) require that your vendors have all unsold tickets back in your hands 48hrs before the show. Then only sell tickets from a SINGLE source, or very, very, very few sources so that knowing a final number is only one phone call away. ======================================== ==== | WEEK 1 OF SALES | ALL SOURCES AVAILABLE*****************| ======================================== ==== | WEEK 2 OF SALES | ALL SOURCES AVAILALBE*****************| ======================================== ==== | WEEK 3 OF SALES | 1/2 RETAIL OUTLETS & PERSONAL SELLERS AVAILABLEhg- | ======================================== ==== | WEEK 4 OF SALES | 1/4 RETAIL OUTLETS & 1/4 PERSONAL SELLERS AVAILABLE| ======================================== ==== | _2 DAYS BEFORE_| 1/4 RETAIL OUTLETS & 2 PERSONAL SELLERS--------------| ======================================== ==== Your parties are massive, Dave, you don't need to rely on the sketchy raver network to distribute your tickets. I'm not saying it's time to do something stupid and try and run through ticket master, I'm just saying that doing something simple, like what I outlined above, is clearly the simplest and best solution to the problem. |

It's not like this is the first time this has happened that's for sure. Which party was it that was at both the palace and raverside?? I think it was Matrix or Cloud 9.... either way, HUNDREDS of people didn't get in for that one.....
In all fairness, shit happens and if Dave at least stands up and says 'Hey, I apologize, I'll glady refund your ticket price.' then shit is all good. A lot of promoters wouldn't have that decency and they'd just keep your money. My 2 cents..... |

bobman.. i already suggested that.
my posts stupid!?!?!? OH MY GOD NO! OH NO.. I THOUGHT THEY WERE ALL SERIOUS! Anyways, other than you're coming off as a snobby promoter who thinks they saved the rave scene (whp stylee) I will say that you're slowly bringing hard trance into vancouver and I for one appreciate that. Now enough with this lady dana shit and bring on the www.djsnowman.ch thank you! I'd pay $200 to see him spin. |

The fact is that we did not oversell
Our estimated presales + guestlist were well below the capacity. We sold a bunch of door tickets. When the cops or fire marshal feel like shutting the doors down, they do. At first they wanted to shut it down at 700 people. They didn't believe us. We had to run out and get the permit to show them the real capacity. Then they shut down the door when they felt we reached that number. Then from there on for every one person that left, one would be allowed in Genisis security were actually really good just cause the fact that they felt bad for everyone in the line and kept letting people in. 2 for every 1 that left |
