She's offended because some of his remarks were offensive towards her (seeing that she is not white and an immigrant from a 3rd world country)and it makes her uncomfortable. I really don't blame her. Maybe it's hard for white people to understand, but I'm sure that if someone said something racist or prejudiced towards me or where I came from, I'd be compelled to do something. |

i'm German. i know, it's totaly diffrent. but think about my father and what a hard time he had. he was the ONLY white kid in his school, in CHICAGO during the black panthor movement. he had police escort from class to class until the police. he had his lunch money taken from him 4 times in 4 years at gun point. that's still racism. the stories i've heard at horrible. so yes, i do understand what it's like. |

my nasty comments don't even come close to being as nasty as him saying that all africans should starve to death (and other such comments against africans in general). as an african, these comments are nasty and offend me greatly. i'm not going to ignore his posts because they are so offensive to me. he also made comments about chocolate covered or coloured bastard children. no one antagonized him into writing that. my greatest fear is to bring a child into this world and have him or her have to endure the sentiments of people like him. no one should have to go through that. what argument is that? i post evidence to back up the things i try to argue. as for mark paul: i'm not being conditioned to accept a multicultural society. i'm being conditioned to try and value the people who are around me. if they happen to have different stamps on their passports, so be it. |

maybe you should move back to africa, then you'll learn what REAL racism is all about. not some guy on the interweb making ignorant remarks. GO PEE IN THE BLACK GIRLS BATHROOM. i went to school with a boy who moved here from africa. but you know what? he was white. it seems as though you let the color of your skin define who you are. this boy i went to school with, he was so very very thankful to be out of there. the stories i heard from him about the racism and horrible things there made me happy to live where i am. sure, i may have to endure whining from people on the net, and ignorant remarks. but i don't have flame throwers on the bottom of my car to fend off car jackers. instead of complaining and being hypersensitive and letting guys like wum get the better of you, why don't you be thankful for the country you live in and learn to embrace it's culture? i know i have. |
|

i have dual citizenship
i embrace both cultures, so i'm not sure where that comment is coming from you heard stories from this boy about how horrible africa is? so you're assuming that an entire continent is like that? it's not, you know my mom and dad both went to bording schools and got better educations than the ones children in the public school system get here my grandmother is the chief of her village and owned multiple business which took her all over the world when she was younger my uncle is a doctor who ended up getting an internship to johns hopkins medical school (which is the best medical school in america. ask your bf, he'll know). he practices in surrey now, but he's building a women and children's clinic back home where he will eventually retire to in two year there are very educated people still living in africa and trying to work to make it a better place for everyone he made degrading remarks about africans, and as an africans, i got offended. i'm not sure where you're getting that i'm not proud to be canadian i love canada, but i also love ghana and plan on working in my uncle's clinic for part of each year once i'm done my schooling |

my grandmother is half white she got made fun and endured a lot of racism from both sides even my mother got made fun of for being lighter skinned than her friends my grandmother's tribe is sterotyped for "eating fish and marrying white people" because they were located on the coast and had first contact with the british and now am i letting my skin colour define me? anyone who knows me would laugh at that statement. really. |

how is that relevant to what i said? you disregard my statement about the racism that my father endured. thanks for that. |

impure: I don't see how your father being racially targetted in his youth takes away from Diva's point(s). If anything it strengthens them.
Racism, regardless of the perpetrator's ethnicity or the recipient's ethnicity, is wrong. While I am loathe to criticize people's personal views, and respect everyone's entitlement to free speech, I am also loathe to allow them to openly propagate such obvious hatred. Diva was born in africa and immigrated to canada. Obviously she is happy to be here. That doesn't mean she cannot speak out against something she finds morally reprehensible. You may or may not disagree with her. The mods on this forums may or may not disagree with her, but she has AT LEAST as much a right to express her displeasure with Wum's comments as Wum has to make them in the first place (if not more of a right). Also, your comment regarding the insults you received because of your German heritage, while similar in nature, I doubt hit anywhere near as hard as comments based on someone's skin color for this reason: No one can readily identify you as a person of German heritage. You could just as easily be Brittish or French or Norweigan (as I am). Black/African people are readily identifiable. Being german is not an identifier of race but an identifier of nationality. If someone were to insult me based on my norweigan heritage I would not take it nearly as personally as if someone insulted me based on my white skin color. I'm unsure as to why you feel compelled to rush to an obvious bigot's defence. Perhaps you yourself share his views? |

also, i didn't disregard your statement about your father. this entire post is dedicated to racism. it doesn't matter who's propagating it. racism is racism. if wum was asian and making threads about other ethnicites, it would be offensive as well. and no, i wont just put up with wum's comments. the only way to effect change is to stand up against things you don't believe in. |

you can report him to the admin, and tell them how much he offends you. but if you really don't want to see while you wait for the admins to work their magic, then put him on ignore. that way you've stated how you feel and still dont have to be hurt by his words. it's hardly turning a blind eye IMO. |

this is a mild form of racism, yes, it's still racism, but appreciate that it is not what it could be. i'm not saying disregard it. but don't constantly complain, then you just look like a whiney baby. say your bit, and leave the admins to do their job. |

but your being totally ignorant and not catching the point here.... your also making yourself out to seem like a completly insensitive b*tch...... your also contradicting yourself.... if you dont like divas "whining and complaining" as you state it.... then put her on YOUR ignore list (even though she has a very vaild standpoint).... and be on your way........ damn kids. ^ thats not the bottom line.... the bottom line is that someone is making racists remarks and is making someone else feel uncomfortable/hurt by these remarks and wants some sort of action taken... because she actually decided to bring this to the attention of admins she is a "whiner"?......
freedom of speech and making racists remarks are completly opposite ends of the spectrum... you should not be free to make racist remarks and get away with it... it is not acceptable. |
