how many DJ's in here are Scratch DJ's?
so what needles do u use? and what are your set-ups on what turntables?
right now i'm using DJ Craze carts from stanton.. i'm breakin them in. i've got M44-7's which i mount normal in the middle and dont put too much weight on them they hold well. the Craze carts i mount 25° outwards simulating a straight tone-arm .. this works excellent for heavy scratching. the cantillever on the craze carts are as fat as the ol 500al so they are solid and dont wobble no matter how much weight u put on. dont need too much weight on this set-up but problem with straight-like cart setup is if it has to skip it will jump outward so you'll go backwards on the music and not forward. what mats do u guys usE? i'm using Slammin Record's mats from years ago. they are fairly thin and hard so there is a lot of slip and just enough grip. for my style anyways light touch... i use m44's and they work great.. i barely need any weight on them either... on my scratching table i have the weight set at 4grams and the other table at 3 grams and my shit never skips
you might wanna be careful with rotating your needles, especially if its an elliptical stylus because it'll ruin your records and also the stylus |

3 decks
3 shure M44-7's 3 Ortofon Concorde Pro with DJ styli i'm using a pair of sicmats, so far i've found them to be nice and slick, but i think i'll try a pair of butter rugs next. i stay away from using weight and mounting at angles because it really chews up your record a lot more. I just stick to keep the weights as light as possible and no anti-skating. |
