how do you handle school?
reall i'm pretty much not doing so well this term i think its the fact i know i have to continue this for years and years...its just never ending i like learning but i feel really trapped when i'm in school. Like i literally don't have time for any fun and have to work when i'm not studying
i know its for my future but sometimes its really hard to get through it all and i find my problem is more i talk so much about how stressed and how much work i have than i actually do it. If i just did it i wouldn't have this problem |

I will leave all the logical, emotional, and philosophical replies for others to answer but I will take care of the medical side of things:
If you need help/energy/motivation to get through school, then Provigil (modafinil) would be the prescription to get. Modafinil is a mood-brightening and memory-enhancing psychostimulant which enhances wakefulness and vigilance. For real yo. |

i missed 14 classes all right at the beginning of the term. Since we don't really get homework or tests for acting, attendance and punctuality is extremely important because the material is taught through hands on experience.
So now I have no choice but to show up to all of my classes on time for the rest of the program or else risk dismissal. This is a good thing though, it's about time I start showin up. |

for fuck sakes, not everything should be solved by popping pills - i don't care if it's artificial or herbal. It's utterly rediculous that our society has jumped on this band wagon and are handing out pills left right and center to cure things that just need a little self control or practice
the OP just needs to manage her time better and not procrastinate, then she'll find that she has more time to do otherstuff |

Umm... well I agree on the prescription meds, duder, but the vitamin supplements are logical since most students don't have time to eat properly throughout the day, hence hindering the learning process due to an imbalanced diet.
That was a great run-on sentence, if you ask me! |

A couple vitamin supplements a day never hurt anyone. In fact, I've never felt better since I began taking them a month ago and I eat five small meals a day; all of which are healthy. |

Chris - my post was sarcastic, d00d. I was just mocking her for not having an efficient time schedule and that's why I suggested a mild form of a medical equivalent of speed - it helps get shit done... on time, hehe.
Where is the philosophical viewpoint on this situation? I remember getting into serious shit from my parents each time I did bad in school. So I figured that such threatenings were very much needed in order to motivate me to do good. Do YOU have anyone standing over your shoulders and making sure you do a good job in everything? Get someone. |

I was saying that SHE needs someone to give her the belt, just like in Russia! You get a bad grade in school and WHABAM - you get whipped by your dad's thick leather belt.
Oh the good 'ol days in the Soviet... how much discipline and motivation they taught me. |

what kind of vitamins do you take? |

Hey, if you can think of a better way to cram all of the vitamins your body needs to run efficiently, then by all means, I'll try it. Until then, a pill is convenient and after all, our society is built upon convenience.
I completely agree with your stance on pills. My head is fucked from all of the prescriptions I was thrown on as a kid for depression, my tourette's, and a whole plethora of other bullshit conditions. Welcome to Generation Rx. edit: For Webber =) |

I take 3 multivitamins a day; any will do, really. I also take Vitamin C supplements on top of it because I swear by the stuff. Vit C is especially useful after a party; the stuff is magic!
I also eat as healthy as I can now that I'm back at my parents' house for awhile. Supplements are in no way a replacement for a legit diet. |

Well I wouldn't say that "any will do" because they all serve a different function in your body!
For energy, mental alertness, and concentration - a full B-Complex is the best. Vitamin B6 gives you energy but you need the other supporting B vitamins in order for it to work efficiently. For overall well being - a multivitamin formulated just for women (from GNC) would be your best bet. But if you want separate vitamins, then these are the essential ones you will need (as well as all the essential trace minerals): Vitamin A Vitamin B1 Vitamin B2 Niacin (B3) Pantothenic Acid (B5) Vitamin B6 Biotin (B7) Folic Acid (B9) Vitamin B12 Vitamin C Vitamin D Vitamin E |

working and school is a big problem... separates the rich kids from those who have to work to goto school. balancing the 2 is seriously tough... unless you're an ace with being on top with your classes a big student loan that covers your tuition and living expenses would be nice. or extra help from the parents.
otherwise, attend every single class, pay full attention and write as many notes as possible. STUDY GROUPS!!! they make university life so much easier. make sure to take courses you either really need or are seriously interested in. read over the text books but don't waste too much time writing reading notes for every single point and term. think about your term papers/labs well ahead!!!!! and avoid cramming at all costs. if you're having time management problems, talk to your ta's or profs about your issues and they will surely give you a direction to go that will help. avoid smoking pot as much as possible. but make sure you have time in the week reserved to have fun and release your tension. wake up early and sleep early. the morning is seriously the most amazing time to get business taken care of. and sleep is incredibly important good luck! |

Vacation my friend. I'm starting to lose my grip on keeping school work and boyfriend in the air all at once, and I think the only thing keeping me sane is looking forward to a trip to San Fran at the end of the semester (and a whole summer off! yay, i didn't get one last year).
It's hard though, I completely understand because I'm such a huge procrastinator myself (just started writing my paper that is due tomorrow, only 1 fifth done). It really helps when you have some tangible goal other than graduation which can seem so far away. On top of that its good to treat yourself constantly for the little things along the way. Got a better mark on your paper than expected? Go out for coffee with a friend. Got an A in a class? New hoodie. It may seem expensive but you'd probably spend the money anyways. |

vitamin b!!! i used to get vitamin b & c injections from my naturapath and it was like shots of energy for me.
i was doing 6 courses while working two seperate weekend jobs. missing class or evening being late could have been grounds for expulsion from the program (but really good lies helped on being late....) it was rough and by the end of my grad semester i was doing alot of the grad show organization plus putting together a portfolio doing finals and all that other shit. i ended up with a realllllly bad bladder infection that had moved into my kidneys. my advice: water. drink lots and lots of water. another thing that got me through was having seperate calendars - one with all my school\work planning the other with all my fun\living planning. everyone prioritizes differently though. apples. you can get them for a fair price year round - they pack easy and you can eat them almost anywhere. plus the stay good for awhile in bags\lockers\cars. juices. go as natural as you can, the less sugar the better. sleep. nap whenever you can, get as many full nights as you can, schedual it if you have to. i had to. i had sleeping down to the minute almost. and i included the sleeping on buses. |
