existentialism
anyone else beleive in this? too me this is the only way to explain why life is so fucked up...im basicly an atheist, so i see existentialism as my religion... i think about it all the time, which is probably why i never get upset over other things that drive people crazy..anyone have any deeper thoughts on the subject

i've always tried to give myself a good explanation how this world was created. in the end, i came to the conclusion that its pretty ridiculous that the complex nature of the world started off as a big explotion. i'm a christian and no matter how far from reality the story of Genesis sounds, i still belive it. i stronly beleive that this world with all these people, animals, landscapes, emotions etc.. could of only been created by a supernatural power.
the human body speaks for iteself! its just crazy (for me) to think that we started from the "big bang". just how the nervous system works, our blood circulation system.... how we can see through our eyes, and feel things on our skin... its intense... and the only explanation i can give myself is that God created us. so in other words no i dont beleive in existentialism... i think we're all born for a purpose; to work hard, make other people happy and in the end die and goto heaven =) |

Yes I beleive in a super natural being and I'm a christian myself, theres no way a big explosion could have created all this, its too complex. However I do beleive, man is what he makes of himself and his actions. We all should find some way or another to live together kinda in harmony so tha world wouldn't be a fucked up place. And theres no way God would create only good cause you need opposites and everyone has free will, therefore they decide to do what tha fuck they want and will be justified by their actions in the end. Although I'm a chritstian.......budhism makes a lot of snese to me also.

I personally am of a Diagnostic belief, I think that a supernatural being created the earth and all it's creatures, I call this being GOD because I believe it best suits my beliefs although I am not referring to the GOD that the Christian/Catholic culture follows. Science has now proven through a Genetic study that all humans started from 2 originators, they've traced the Male Gene all the way back to one original human, but are having troubles tracing the female chromosone back to one female human(which just backs up the theory of Genesis even that little bit more.)

I don't believe in it.
there may be bad things that go on in life, but there are also many good things that go on in life. and sometimes, good things and bad things all seem to fall in place and in the end, many bad things turn out to be blessings in disguise. I don't know. it would drive me nuts to be an existentialist. I think life has too much of a purpose, and that some things are just predetermined for us. yes, we have the capability to act and choose accordingly, but I believe there are many paths laid out to us. you just have to choose the right one. ever read "the stranger"? sorry, but I thought Meursault was a freak. he reminds me somewhat of a psychopath. --Joanne :P |

I can't even read this word It has made me come into this thread and read it and still I do not understand what it is I'm starting to think that everyone that has been preaching to something, has been preaching to alien beings all along. GOD seems so much like..... UFOssss??? |

guice_39: but existentialists don't believe there's a plan for everyone....
sean: see, I think it's cool how you may be able to adjust to your environment well and keep your cool whenever shit happens. but having a life like that just seems oh so point less and meaningless to me. I can't live a life without knowing there is more out there than just me and my actions. and having a life where there is no afterlife and or a belief in some higher being is kind of scary for me. I guess it's because it's something I've been brought up believing my whole life... sometimes it's hard to see the meaning of life in someone else's shoes... everyone else who does not comprehend: why don't you try figuring out what the term means instead of wasting space on how you clueless you guys are? --Joanne :P |
