Do you take 5-HTP ?
5-Hydroxytryptophan (5-HTP) is an amino acid that is the intermediate step between tryptophan and the important brain chemical serotonin. There is a massive amount of evidence that suggests that low serotonin levels are a common consequence of modern living. The lifestyle and dietary practices of many people living in this stress-filled era results in lowered levels of serotonin within the brain. As a result, many people are overweight, crave sugar and other carbohydrates, experience bouts of depression, get frequent headaches, and have vague muscle aches and pain. All of these maladies are correctable by raising brain serotonin levels. The primary therapeutic applications for 5-HTP are low serotonin states as listed in Table 1. Table 1. Conditions associated with low serotonin levels helped by 5-HTP
DepressionAlthough 5-HTP may be relatively new to the United States health food industry, it has been available through pharmacies for several years and has been intensely researched for the past three decades. It has been available in several European countries as a medicine since the 1970s. *I started taking it everday a few eeks ago, def makes life easier. :D |

Talk about your lucid dreams! I already have abnormal ones, on 5-HTP my brain ramps up to hyper active in deep sleep. It's not just for recovering after the weekender, its a pretty solid health product. I would take it more often if it wasn't so damn expensive. I mean a guys gotta smoke.

I've religiously taken it for the past couple years.
Though I never take more than 50 mg a day. The Extra Energy product has 250 mg of tyrosine and gets metabolized by MAO into dopamine, noradrenalin and adrenalin. These three neurotransmitters get used up faster than serotonin. However, it's Omega-3 EFA that stabilize my moods. As well, my first taste of hemp oil informed me that I'd spent way too long without Omega-3 essential fatty acids. |

Yeah any health shop will carry them, bare in mind it's costly. If your serious, spend the money on the larger bottle because you just get more for your investment. I use the word investment knowingly. MC Hammered had some good ones years back w/ a slight dose of sleep shite (for lack of the correct ingredient). Picked them up states side which I would recommend if you were serious about taking them longterm. Oh and be mindful when you (err) pop'n'fresh because you will be a space cowboy.

Take 1 to 2 pills (depending on mood and stress levels) 2-3 hours before bed time. Make sure you have at least 8 hours minimum to sleep. Works best for me.

I take it, but I do tend to do it on and off. After I don't do it for a while, it does help me to sleep really well for a while, then it seems I can't sleep while taking it. Also, I have had some REALLY fucked up dreams while on it as well.
It definitely has it's benefits, but it is something I do have to stop doing after a few weeks. I don't find the price to be too bad. A two months supply (sixty 100mg pills) is $15-20 at most places, with the highest price I think I've seen being $25. |

sadly, it's really hard getting a friend who's addicted to meth to take all the vitamins, 5-htp, and tyrosine supplements consistently.
Subclinical B vitamin deficiency is noticeable in an addict's behavior after 3 months of chronic abuse. I know of an ex-meth addict who developed early signs of Parkisonian syndrome. He could lift a heavy coffee pot, and it'd be rhythmically jerking. He'd also whine, bitch and complain a lot. However, using real MDMA with B6 and tyrosine MIGHT reduce those symptoms. |
