My best friend just had the second sitting for her tattoo done at Sacred heat by Tyler... and it looks amazing.
I hate tattoos and would never get one but hers is a piece of art. He has years of experance and will take the time to ensure your tattoo is perfect You can check out his portfolio at the shop most likey |

I've heard sacred heart was good. I was also checking out there portfolios online. The only thing is that I've heard they are a bit pricey.
I do want it done well, and I'm willing to spend a little more to get it done right, I just don't want to be charged an arm and a leg for a pretty basic tattoo. |

------------------ Anyways... I know you're likely quite set on getting your tattoo now Lauren (and summer is when everyone thinks of it), but you may actually want to hold off until fall or winter. You should not get your tattoo wet for atleast 10 days, if not longer if it is still healing and scabbing. Also, you should not have any sun exposure on a tattoo for 4-6 weeks after getting it. That goes for both natural sunlight and tanning beds. And no, sunscreen slapped on top of it does not suffice. No sun exposure whatsoever for that time period to ensure that your tattoo colours have time to set properly, and that the area is comepletely healed. |

I would vote YES on holding off, at the very least, until HB is done. I happen to want to get a new piercing, but I'm going to wait until we return. Wouldn't it suck to have something go terribly wrong and have to cut the trip short? Plus, you're talking about making a major modification to your body... If you're gonna do it, do it right. Or it might end up looking terrible. That could mean anything from just fading sooner to having pieces of your tattoo not healing properly and being without colour, or worse, scarring! Yikes! You've waited two years... Whats another cpl weeks or months?

My statement was based off one of the personal trainers at my gym who was having an arm piece done. He expessed to the Dutchman that he wasn't happy with a certain part of it (apparently there was a big difference between the ink and original design) John was so insulted he wouldn't finish the piece; yet still charged the guy full price. Seems a little harsh to me... |

I got mine done at Superior Tattoo on 12th & Commercial (two doors down from Toby's) and they're fantastic. My gf got a lizard skeleton done on her foot from Michelle there that's utterly glorious. They're really nice people and exceptionally good artists. Highly recommend

I got mine done a while back at dutchman's, I designed the piece but it wasn't the actual dutchman that did the work. It was one of the girls who works there, can't remember her name, long curly-ish hair. Even though it was pricier than other shops, I payed for the quality work, great environment, clean & safe setup and awesome staff.

Yeah totally thats her!!! I couldn't remember her name so everytime anyone asked I said the Aussie chick at Dutchman's. She was a really really cool chick. I haven't been back since then but i was thinking of designing another piece. Do you know if she'd still working there?
Edit: Oh, forgot to add that I got work done at Dutchman's back in 98 when they were still in New West. Last edited by EPID3MIK-7; Jun 11, 07 at 12:03 AM. |

i would hold off until fall\winter. i have gotten all my tattoos then - makes healing easier in the foot area i find. i have an ankle band that goes directly above my ankle so its super low - runners and shit just did not work for me with it - too itchy\too much contact especailly while the scabs were peeling. flip flips and either baggy pants or rolled up pants were the best. lucky about vankizzer being so rainy in november. i have four tattoos - the oldest one being almost 8 years old (yikes) and i have no problem with fading - just a little with fuzzing out. i went to sacred heart in kits for my ankle - best tattoo experience. i think the guys name was steve but this was 5 years ago. took the time to listen and talk and be concerned. also worked with me in the design. my most recent two have been done by my dads tattoo artist dave at sinister skin. hes super friendly, and i love both peices i got. hes done my dads i think 5 tattoos, and two for me. im going to be doing\making my side peice bigger, adding a peice or two every year.
i find i heal really quick - tummy was about a week and half, ankle was just under two weeks, my side was a week and my back was just over two, and its just over side plate size. *edit: by heal i mean scabing coming off - doesnt mean its healed\percautions should still be made, ect. i would say go in to parlours and talk to artists - usually they wont take on what they cant do well. that or apply for miami ink. |
