random bike/bmx question...

So, I've been into biking for awhile, have fun & excercise & all that.
But cruising around the seawall hasn't been the most demanding workout... I'm thinking of switching over to a bmx.

can anyone tell me if this is going to imrpove my endurance/muscle tone at all?
where can i expect to see some development?

Thank you!

I ride a BMX and usually stay off the seawall because it's busy and flat.

I like taking it in the trails of the park - there's all sorts of degrees of terrain in there. I usually get the best workout taking the trails in the west side of the park up to Prospect Point - all uphill (feels so good when you get to the top!). I also take it across town (up cambie, etc.)

it's a great workout because you have no gears, but if you're used to riding with gears it's a bit of an adjustment.

If you've been doing nothing but riding the seawall on a bike, then it's just really a matter of finding more challenging places to ride, not getting a new bike.

If you're looking for a bmx, stop by Ride On at main and 23rd (or around 23rd, don't quite remember) and the dudes there can hook you up with a good bike. I don't really reccommend buying your first BMX on CL unless you're going to take it in a store to get tuned and adjusted to your height. Unless you're going to go radcore x'treme at the skate park, you won't need pegs (just add weight..)

i bmx stanley park all the time, usually seawall. it's a sweaty cardio workout but since its mostly flat the benefit you get will be based purely on your LEVEL OF DRIVE, GIRL. i find the best way to do it is to go with a bunch of other people who ride gears/fixies because you will be constantly hamsterwheeling to keep up.

i have no idea of tone because between hockey and bmx my legs are the only part of my body that are ridiculously in shape.
