Horoscopes, wtf?
So how many of you out there actually read them. AND, how many of you actually follow and believe in what they say?
Ive never really cared or payed much attention to them. Sometimes I would read mine in the newspaper should I come upon it. But thats about it. But the past few (along with things in my life atm) have kinda been making me think things over and re-think other things. But I dont know if its worth it or not. What are your takes on them? Are they worth it, or full or crap? |

I enjoy reading horoscopes, but take them with a grain of salt. Sometimes I like the daily or love compatability ones when they say wht I want to hear, but I rarely caution when they warn of something troublesome. Unless it's after the fact, then admittedly I'm all "ahh... well that makes sense." Mostly, I do like reading them at the end of the day. However, I find zodiac signs themselves to be very interesting. And although when I was younger I thought I was no where near what a "leo should be", I am now a bonafide textbook lioness.

I've generally seen the ones that only look at your DOB/sign/etc to have "some" degree of accuracy - at least in terms of general traits. But I hardly align myself with some dictators I know that were born same month [and sign] as myself. There's bound to be some coincidences - the less granular the horoscope, the more likely to be true.
As far as the daily ones go, I read them in the evening - if at all - just for kicks. No way in a frozen hell would I think all [say, 500 million] Aquarii are bound to find love or get rich in the same day as myself. Fuck'em, I work hard for MY happiness =) Horoscopes do have the weird effect of subconsciously affecting your actions so as to make the predictions true... if you believe, that is. |

I have come to understand that there are some things in this universe that science just plain can't understand, at least not yet. It's believing this is not so that has caused countless measures against human productivity. And who knows, maybe that resistance is an important part of that productivity.
What I will say though is that long long ago people in Greco-Roman times saw patterns in the sky and how those affected the people in the world in GENERAL. So they formed this form of divination to try to explain it. Science hasn't really done much to explain it, except attribute it to circus trickery. But where did these stories and explanations of the stars come from in the first place? Like all religions, I believe that it once took root in something real, something fantastic and unexplainable, at least for the time. Prophets are merely teachers who explain how things are, not how things are going to be. Is there some truth to the arrangement of the stars affecting how we behave? Sure as hell I believe so. Is when you are born, on average, going to somehow affect your life? Why not? How sure are we that star alignments don't affect our behaviour? I can say for damn well sure that the Sun affects us, so your sun sign could be a major influence on your life (your first experiences in the outdoor - the temperature, the wind chill, the precipitation, are we so 100% certain that this doesn't affect how we're going to develop?) It's my strict theory that divination is just a collection of stories - advice and explanations of human behaviour. Whether it applies to you is simply a matter of random chance. So as long as you have some arbitrary means of reading the stories - either the arrangement of stars in the sky, or the shuffling of a tarot deck, or a random selection of runestones or I Ching, heck, if you're so incline what Paris Hilton is wearing today - then the stories will apply themselves to you in a way that is significant. Of course there's holes in it. Always is - no religion is 100% right, not even science or atheism. Simply because THERE'S TOO MANY FUCKING PEOPLE IN THE WORLD TO MAKE SWEEPING GENERALIZATIONS LIKE THAT. But a good astrologist understands this, and reads the stars just as that - a story, not a prediction. |

I used to read intensively into horoscopes during my highschool days, and yes the stars are a wonderful thing. If you believe everything happens for a reason, horoscopes and numerology are beautiful guides.
however... i do not believe in these daily newspaper articles, it is much to difficult to fortell your day looking at the stars. I think one would need much more than a day to study the energy of that day. Reading the daily horoscope is much to vague and provides little guidance in my opinion. If you want to learn about yourself though, you can do a bit of general reading about your sign. Again though, you will not match accordingly in some cases depending on your date of birth relating to the date of transition from one sign to another. The horoscopes have been studied or created quite a long time ago, nowadays, things have changed and stars have realigned. My point here is to tell you, one should think twice before calling the brilliance of stars, bullshit |

ftw. A horiscope can only ever be a generalization. I can usually look at it in a way that applies to my life and current events going on... but everyone else who is also a sag can do it too. It seems a little unpersonal.
What is more interesting to me, is those 365 days books or whatever that have every birthday of the year and then notes on personality traits and things like that. I dont usually find them to be dead on, but it's a little more tailored and specific and usually have more relevant things to say, IMO. |

ACUARIO
You may be thinking of far-away places and great adventures that may not happen yet. On one hand, this is a magical and dreamy time for you, when you can put your creative right brain to use. On the other hand, you must monitor your daydreams, so they don't pull you too far down the wrong track for too long. Thursday, July 26, 2007 |

I pretty much read them just for the hell of it. One time it was creepy just how right it was though. At the start of the year, the Georgia Straight had horoscopes for the year. About 90% of what was in it was totally right, but the creepy part was how it said I'd be starting a new job soon, probably at a warehouse. A week before I read that, I started a job at a warehouse.
