ok. everything affects everything else. INCLUDING the lack of YOU from society (if you choose to partake in the greater equation, you will have more effect than if you don't). But if you were to smile at a taxi driver, perhaps he will smile at all of his customers affecting the rest of their day and the decisions that they make. And if you were to kiss someone who was not expecting it, perhaps they will see love beyond any means that they've seen before.. .but at the same time see as much pain. Who knows?

Everything does affect everything else, you're entirely right. That all comes down to the interexistent nature of things. Everything is everything else. All vibration. All energy. All made up of non-self parts which help make up everything around you. Your computer is made up of thousands of non-computer properties; many of which help make a desk, or a child, or an emotion. You just have to remove the concept of 'self' and 'seperate' and see it for what it is. If you've seen I <3 Huckabees, it's like the blanket theory.

As for love and pain, my studies of Engaged Buddhism help me out a lot with such emotions. They say pain and love are always present, always a part of you. All emotions are present in your store consciousness, which is like the earth. They are like seeds waiting for nutriment. When one of these seeds is watered, it rises into your mind consciousness, like a flower (or a weed) blooming in a garden. You can never truly rid yourself of negative emotions. All you can do is learn smile and embrace the negative seeds before they grow too large in your garden and stop positive seeds from growing. Suffering is always present. You just need to transform it. There is never an absence of pain or happiness in life.
