That is really tragic. My sister's french teacher in grade nine murdered his wife.

That was about ten years ago.

Just goes to show you can't judge someone by how they seem on the surface.

Hearing that gave me shivers down my back. It reminds me of when my friends Step father killed her mother then himself. Luckily someone was there to take her away from the man. Their landlord got his rotweiler to distract the man then pulled the woman to safety. At least there's a slightly happy ending to the story :(

Marriage isn't fucked... people are just fucked in the head and a lotta them should seek some form of counselling. Just because you get married doesn't mean you all of a sudeen become some deranged psychopath. Some lil piece of paper doesn't make you change the type of person you are... nor does it make the relationship any more meaningfull (IMO). Stabbing/shooting someone you love has a lot more to do with a fucked up brain pattern as opposed to a relationship.

And I agree, marriage isn't always what makes people do fucked up shit like that. But love/marriage can play a part in it. We all know love makes people do crazy things. Sometimes its just done to extreme. The scary thing about alot of these stories is that no one would ever expect the people to do such a thing. Which scares the crap out of me even more. I mean my friends step dad was a tad bit controlling, but he never abused anyone in their family. A few days after they told her they were having a divorce he just snapped. Basically... if he couldn't have her no one could.
but yah.. enough about that. i don't really like discussing this topic :(

K... you missed the point so I'll repeat myself...

Some lil piece of paper doesn't make you change the type of person you are.

You can have a long term relationship and live with the person for say 10 years and it could be more meaningful than a marriage. You'd also still wake up with the same person and you could still have the same sort of stresses.

All the stresses you list happen in day to day life to a whole lot of people who aren't married... or even in a relationship for that matter (lack of money/free time... too many bills).

Those are serious problems that people CAN seek help for... they don't have to resort to stabbing their loved ones. In some cases yes people do and they feel like that's there only option left but that's because of the way their mental processes work... not because of marriage or soceity or anything else for that matter.
