try grabbing a friend from every class. a "study buddy" if you will. works all the way through highschool and into college/university.
I just had a monster of an Asian Philosophy test, and wouldnt have even made it through it without my roommate who is in the same class. It helps a bunch. |

I have this problem too. It's simply called PROCRASTINATION, and it isn't some disorder that requires diagnosis and medical treatment. The distractions aren't the fault, you are. you can blame it on t.v., internet, girls, but even if those factors did not exist, you would have found something else to blame it on.
I find that the hardest part is GETTING STARTED. Select an area of study that has the least amount of distractions. Unplug the tv if you have to. (i've had to do that before). In highshool, i found that it helped to just go to the library after school. The library is a boring place and there really isn't much else to do BUT study. It also helps to map out your week. If you make a schedule for yourself ie-"read pages *blank* to *blank* by October 26th.. etc", and make sure that you FOLLOW that schedule. Some people work better under pressure, so maybe a time restraint is what may work for you. ps- I rarely ever follow my own advice! :) |

After 8 years of post secondary school I learned the BEST way to get your work done and stop procrastinating...
Do the following routine and not only will you get your work done, you will have free time AND you will most likely get ahead. Step 1: Allot yourself a set amount of work that MUST be done per day. A good guideline is: For readings: 50pgs per day per subject <--This may seem like alot but trust me, you will be done your readings by midterm and then you can wholly focus on assignments, For papers: Do all your research or write 1/2 paper, For question assignments: Do 1 minor assignment per day, do 1/4 of a major assignment. Then for each day do the following little steps: Step 2: Do a small amount of what is due or coming up for each subject. ie: If you have readings in a class then read 10pages and take notes. If you have a paper to write then write 1 paragraph and leave it. If you have science type questions to answer then do 1 to 10 questions (depending on size of questions). Step 3: Take a break and do something else. Ie: play computer games for an hour, take out the trash, do your shopping, hit the gym, whatever...Try not to do this thing for more than 1 or 1 1/2 hours. Step 4: Keep doing this until you have finished your allotted daily amount. Then relax for the rest of the day or go to sleep depending on how late it is. TRUST ME!!! THis totally works! It is a little tough at the beginning of the semester but once you are on it you will be laughing at the end of semester when everyone else is stressing because of papers and assignments and you are sitting back saying: "Oh that! Yea, I finished that 2 weeks ago, all I have left is to study for midterms/finals." |

something my psychology teacher told me REALLY makes sense... just like if u were to goto the gym u have a certain type of clothes u put on, as soon as u put those clothes on u feel like u ready to hit up the gym... so choose something that well be ur studying clothes... like sweatpants and sweatshirt... and designate them as the clothes u wear when u study... after awhile as soon as u put those clothes on u will feel ready to study... just putting them on well make u feel like its studying time and help u concentrate.....just a tip
