after life
when someone passes away where do you think they go?
no where ... heaven / hell ... i just got an email from my best reminding me about a friend of ours that passed away and promised that if he did he'd come back and let one of us know he was ok, and he hasn't yet. oh yea, what a thing to be thinking about before bed ... |

im a reincarnation believer
i think that there arent enough places in heaven for all of us so we just keep getting recycled till me learn as much as we can learn and then we may go to me it make sense, especially for all those people who are wise beyond their years |

Body/brain stays here and decomposes, and your soul goes to wherever you believe in.
I think some go to 'heaven', some go to hell (which I see as just a personal vortex of negativity that you don't realize you can get out ot) some get reborn some hang around as spirit guides and such some don't even realize that they've even died. that's what I think at least. |

as much as i'd like to believe that there is an afterlife or reincarnation and so on.. it just all seems a little far fetched and unrealistic that such things can happen. i could go on into further detail, but then the religion nuts will jump all over my post and start another never ending debate with me. :017:

I'd like to mention robert anton wilson's maybe logic philosophy, because you don't really know death until you die. There is no logic in explaining death unless you've died already, although with what theories I've ran into I'll do my best in explaining my journey on what life is all about.
Like Sir Isaac Newton said energy does not disappear it changes forms, well I believe conciousness to be a form of energy that does not disappear, only changes forms. And what is life anyway but a perception of frequencies all restricted to the senses and their relative bandwidths. You have sound at 20hz-20,000hz , Sight (light) in the trillions of hertz at its relative bandwidths (red light has a frequency of about 430 trillion hertz.) as do all other human senses. The point is there are many frequencies in between we are not sensing, and if our conciousness does take an individual form in a so called different realm or as I would say different frequency spectrum or "vibration" then perhaps it isn't possible to communicate with the previous, whose to say really, you won't know until you die. |

hmm heres my story. my grandma who was the most amazing grandma in the world - always had a pie baking and there was always cookies and new sweaters and yah she was incredible - got cancer. she faught for two years. things with my family finances were not so good, and one day my grandma said "you know if there is a god and i see him im gonna tell him to lay off you guys, you deserve to be more comfertable. i'll set things straight." when my grandma passed on, we thought my dad was going to take a pay cut when we got back to vancouver from the funeral and my mom was currently inbetween jobs as she had quit one to get trained for another. but when we got home my dad got a raise and higher position in the company, my mom got hired right away full time, and we were able to move outta our townhouse and into a beautiful small house that we all love.
coulda been a coincidence but i like to think it was my grandma pushing god around up there tellin him to get his shit together. how ever as of lately my thought on fate\destiny has been altered. when i see people who do not deserve to suffer in pain i jsut cant comprehend that it was ment for them. i also believed that when it was your it was your time and that there are certain points where medical help shouldnt happen.... but then everything turned upside down.... tough quesiton. |

Sort of believe in some sort of spirit or soul... otherwise I think its just like the whole circle of life/reincarnation thing where we all just decompose and the all the energy that we are gets passed along in some form to another creature and in some strange way we are reincarnated in the smallest possible form. If any of that makes sense.
If you have ever seen some one that has passed away... they just arent there anymore. It's not them; just a shell of what they useds to be. That just makes me think that there has to be more then just be dead and thats it. |

Sometimes I think I see my mom in my house, even though she's been gone for a while.. I mostly talk to her in my dreams, it's really strange. My take on the whole afterlife thing, is it's only what you believe it is... but you can never really know eh? ;] |

I wish I believed in some form of afterlife but I don't. I just have one of those "don't believe what there isn't evidence for, etc..." type mindsets. I do, however, have a lot of respect for people who can take something essentially purely on faith...for that reason even though I don't agree with people who have strong religeous beliefs I can respect the fact that they have them (as long as they aren't pushy about it).
That said, I've been wrong before & I'll be wrong again...and this is one of those things that I REALLY hope I'm wrong about... |

I think it's something you can't explain unless you experience it
I know for a fact that there is something after this life -I can't make anyone else believe that, nor would i want to -- it must be something you reach on your own,. And i think those here that spend their whole life in disbelief of that will be surpprised later. I believe most souls have more then one journey here to accomplush and most do that in several trips -- I am a firm believer that I have an old soul - but whether or not Maryah has been here before I do not know I know I met my soul mate - I knew it the moment I saw him - I know that we've met in another time and I know that even though heis gone now I will see him again I know he sees me now - that in dreams we talk...that not all dreams are just dreams ....but some are people ask for evidence - i can't show it, but if you were me you'd know what I'm talking about there are some things I am certain of and those are amongst them I am not clear about what goes on once you leave - but something does And allie...your friend may not be able to make you aware of him til later.... |

It all depends on what you believe in.
My Dad passed away 2 years ago and I saw some pretty freaky things that made me wonder about the spirit world. Via a medium my Dad told us he went to Hell (please note that there is a difference in Chinese afterlife descriptions vs. Christian. AFAIK in Chinese culture everyone goes to Hell first) and the Lord there said he should not be there and should still be in the land of the living. Due to the hardships my father went through in life and the little time he had to enjoy the fruits of his labour due to his premature death, the Lord changed him into a pig until he enjoyed life without the thought of labour and it was up to his family to prove him worthy to ascend to heaven. Why a pig we asked? Well... a pig eats, sleeps and plays every day without the need to think about doing any work... the exact opposite of the hard life my father lived. The Lord will watch over my father and will watch our family pray and prove to him that my father is worthy to be retransformed and sent to heaven. More questions were asked by my family and the answers were 100%. My grandmother was convinced 100% that my fathers spirit was conversing with us due to the fact the medium would not have known the answers to her questions as they have never met before. Was I convinced? Somewhat. I fear death due to the fact I do not know what happens next. Now that I am given the possibility that ones spirit does exist when the physical body withers away is 'comforting' but until I put my own mind at peace I'll keep my eyes and mind open. Just remember this: No one is really dead until he or she is forgotten. As long as you remember and have thoughts of that person they are very much alive. |

I've kinda talked with my grandpa a few times, I'm pretty sure he's part of the stem of consiousness that guides me now. |

Man you guys are so deep. I don't know whether you would call it fortunate or unfortunate to not have lost someone close to me. On one side everyone close to me is still alive and healthy. On the other end I haven't had the chance to experience even anything near to what somepeople have. Death has never really been around me so I haven't had the chance to.

I don't think there is anything after death
just nothing no pain, no sorrow, no joy you wouldn't know you were dead because there is nothing, and to me that is oddly comforting it would be nice though if it was how they described it in American Beauty, Just an eternity of memories from your past, all the little happy times that you forget now |

i don't have a belief system. i guess reincarnation would be cool.
the only thing about the afterlife i worry about is if we just literally are extinguished like a candle. if our minds/soul just wink out into total darkness. that scares the shit out of me. everything you are, your whole life's work, all you hold dear, whatever you stood for, just won't matter. whereas chet pictures my scenario but he's comforted. how fucked is that? the only good thing is if that scenario is true, i won't know it. but for me that's as comforting as being told, you're on death row, u want for us to kill you now? or in a few days? |

I think that non-existence is just as impermanent as anything else... if it wasn't, nothing would exist in the first place...
I've always believed in a oneness of all things in the universe, and I think that the true heart of the matter is seeing beyond the cycle of "living" and "dying"... |
