Getting old?
I know that by no means am I 'old', but perhaps I'm just getting to a point where life's pace is slowing considerably from the wild days of 18-19..
You notice that you're extremely happy with your routine with your 9-5ish job.. You've got no energy to go out and do things on weekdays because you're too tired...plus you're looking much more forward to an episode of law and order SVU than actually doing things.. No matter what you did the night before, you're completely unable to sleep in past 9am... The idea of staying in on a friday or saturday night suddenly doesn't seem like such a bad idea ...week after week Suddenly you notice that a ton of your friends in your age range are getting engaged, married and pregant. This is by far the scariest because to them it doesn't seem scary (but to you, it does.) Can anyone else relate? |

ooohh yess. I can. Even though I am being forced to live that way... kinda. I dont have a job, but I study full time. Pharmacy. And that automatically doesnt leave me any time to do stuff. Sometimes not even on weekends cause we even have to study then non stop.
If I wouldnt have to do this I would very likely still be flyin around the blocks and party all day evry day!!!! |

lately ive been trying to catch back on my youth.. seem to have flew right by it..and missed having fun and enjoying the immature things to do. growing up too fast is definatley not fun, even though i do love the routined thing as well..school, work, tv sched and sleep time sched...daily.. oh i love it. makes me feel a lot more secure with myself. and i loved staying home on weekends.. i still do, but im getting myself out a bit more now..and living it young while i can.

I can definately relate. I probably haven't even been to a rave for like 2 years. I'll have to start getting out more before I actually am too old. Maybe things will change when I move out of the suburbs and into downtown... one more week... oh yes.

I hear ya on most of that. I'm in between jobs right now, but when I am working, I love having my work schedule...work, go home, eat, watch tv, and sleep. Buuuuut, at the end of the day, in the grand scheme of things, I realise that at 20 I'm still a baby!

oh god... don't even talk to me about it. I have turned into the hugest super granny. My biological clock is going like a timpani drum and there's only so much babying a cat will take. ugh...In one respect I'm kind of glad I'm not as mental as I was back in the day but still... maybe just for one night a week at least. But no I'm too much into csi. clubs make me mad because "it's too dark and loud" hahaha. poop :soak:

Age is all in the mind... unfortunately, my mind has hit a speed bump with the big 25 painted on it. Turning another yr older never bothered me before, but now as I approach this quarter century mark, all the monotany of work/ life, and the realization that I still havent found my niche. It's like a big ass open handed pimp slap to the face. FUCK, now I undertstand why some people drink themselves into a perpetual numbness.

hahaha...
the funny thing is, most of us are in our 20's. FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, WAIT TILL YOU ARE 40 TO FEEL OLD! we're all in the prime of our lives, are we not? growing out of partying doesn't mean you are old, it just means different things interest you. Life is about change. |

Except for the staying home weekend after weekend, I know exactly what you are talking about...
However, at 23, I am partying harder and longer than I did for the past few years, and I feel great. For some odd reason, I can party longer than most of my younger friends, even without chemicals in my system to keep me going. |

Is going to work, paying the bills, vegging on the couch, and doing chores on the weekend true signs of maturation? Not really. It's just how our society functions for the most part. While the allure of going out may dwindle because it seems like more of a hassle, we only put that hassle on ourselves. To stand up, put on some shoes, and wander the streets of Granville and Robson is no less difficult than standing up, putting on shoes, and wandering the beach of White Rock (aside from the assault on the senses, I guess).
Hnn... Granted I find myself less and less enthusiastic about hitting up the city nites but that's more to do with living way out here in the Rock. If I were to move closer (which I probably will), things would be much different just as a matter of convenience. |

i know i'm only 19...and i know that i'm young...but i think i'm going through a slight crisis with the realization that in another 20 years i'll be basically 40 years old. in like, 10 year, i'll probably have a kid, and i'm just freakin' myself out. the first 19 years went by so quick...what about the next 19 years? and the 19 years after that??
