The thing is, if the school system is so good, how come your parents aren’t smart enough to teach you what they learned? And if they’re too apathetic why did they have kids? So it must be the money…

this makes no sense.
first of all, being smart and being able to teach are two completely different things. and let's be honest here.. do you really believe that some of the things they teach you in school require a 'smart' person' to teach it?
second, I don't believe school is necessarily all about learning.. there's a social aspect that I believe is pretty important in terms of a child's growth and developmental needs. though homeschooling may be great for some kids, if you have access to all these free resources (i.e. computers, games, toys, a gym with equpment), as well as have opportunities to play with other kids their age and make friends, how is it considered 'apathetic' of a parent to send them off to school?
thirdly, if you were a mom with 4 children, ranging from <1 year to 7, can you realistically believe that having a very structuralized, daily lesson plan for all her kids can be easily accomplished? how the hell would sending her kids off to school mean she simply 'can't be bothered'?
geez.
