do you think these adults were wrong??
when I was in grade 11, me and 3 friends got caught doing drugs(GROSS DRUG ewww) in the washrooms at school....
There was a dealer in the school that they were trying to catch so basically they made a deal with us that if we ratted out this guy they wouldn't tell our parents...now 2.5 years later my friend is fucked having been addicted to jib for that long...I'm not saying its not her own fault for doing it..but don't you think these teachers, being the adults in the situation, should have told her parents??? because her problem could have been prevented a month after it started rather than 2.5 years later... |

that's retarded they didn't tell your parents.
if i got busted for blazing in high school, and they told my mom, obviously i'd get in shit. but i'd probably go smoke a joint right after she yelled at me. ther'es probably a million incidents in the last 2.5 years that could have stopped your junkie friend. but it's been said before, and it's so fucking true, THEY have to want to stop. doesn't matter if the whole world is helping them. |

i dont think parents can stop someone from doing drugs
if they want to do drugs they'll do the drugs.. if the parents dont like it.. they'll find a way to do it without them knowing.... whats the worst thing your parents can do? kick you out of the house so you dont need to hide your drugs anymore and can do it more freely? the person addicted to the drugs is the only one responsible for their addiction... no one else |

^well, mayeb they would have at least put her into therapy...and at least her parents would have known she had a problem with it,rather than be completely in the dark..
We were like 16...so i dont know why the teachers thought that not telling our parents was a good idea... but at least now my friend has stopped on her own terms and didn't get caught out because this way at least we all know she actually wants to stop, which, i guess is a benefit.. |

what should have happened, is the school could have tried another way of finding out who the dealer was (random locker checks) or something (although i know its hard due to the privacy act)
or even if you had ratted, they should have first offered you some kind of couselling that you could have gone to, but still should have told your parents. |

This isn't another discussion about who's at fault for an addiction because we all know its an individual thing. The matter at hand is that an authority figure (a teacher) knew these girls were involved in drugs and they didn't do a thing about it.
If I were her/your parents, and I found out 2.5 years afterwards that the school KNEW my child was doing hard drugs and didn't tell me, I would FREAK OUT. Last edited by M!SKA; Jul 15, 04 at 08:52 AM. |

I SMELL A LAWSUIT!
Seriously, I think there's something in teachers' contracts that says if they catch a student doing drugs or using alcohol that they're supposed to contact the parents. What I would have done as the teacher, was made you guys rat out the dealer, then I would have told your parents anyways! Two birds, one stone. That's how the cops do it! (sometimes) |

The way I see it is if her parent's found out it would have caused more stress and tension in the family and then caused her to feel like she needs to rebel more, which probably means she'd be doing the same thing at a much younger age.
If someone's gonna do these things, ain't nothing going to stop them, unfortunately. |

Your friend's parents awareness about their daughter's behaviour might have been heightened, but that's about all one could definitely say would have resulted from your teachers telling them.
I do feel that your teachers' conduct were a little on the negligent side, though. I can understand why they might not say anything if you guys were busted with a little weed, but you guys were caught doing jib. *shakes head* I would have told on you guys, and made you give up the dealer by threatening to have the police charge you or by threatening you with suspension. Your teachers could have handled that situation in so many different ways. It seems to me like they took the easy way out. |

nah its you're junkie friends fault for still being a crackhead...
if they got the dealer and got him arrested then it was worth it, so he wouldnt sell that shit to anyone else....like your friend's parents wouldve been able to do anyhting if she's already a smackhead at the time. i know tons of smackheads who even when their parents intervened and threw them into like 4 different rehab programs they are still a smackhead. its an choice that an individual has to make for themself |

why does everyone try to make an excuse for themselves ?
this is bull shit.. she did the drugs it's her fault for getting addicted! the bigger problem was to get the drug dealer not the dumb kids. you have a mind. use it. if you have a problem, admit you have the problem and go find help. not a different excuse to why it's not your fault . |
