so a guy in my program....
got stabbed last night. This is the "official" story from my school.

A brief account of what transpired: A group of our students (there were students from the US, Australia and India) along with a couple of friends from home where at a bar in the center of Copenhagen when a group of young men started accosting a girl in the group. The guys in our group of students went to her aid and were shocked to see that several of the young men in the other group were swinging knives. The police were called and the knife-carrying group ran away.
A student intern working in our office was with the group and warned them that the other group might get extra help and come back. The group had therefore left the bar and were heading for the nearest residence. It was not until at this point that the student in question first joined them (he had been with another group at a neighboring bar). They were crossing Kongens Nytorv when a car came roaring up to them and 5 knife-yielding men attacked them. Miraculously, only one of our group was stabbed before the police were on the scene. An ambulance with a doctor was there almost immediately afterwards. 4 of the five knife-bearers were quickly arrested although the stabber himself apparently is still at large. The latter is expected to be identified by several of the other witnesses today who will be shown videotapes from the bar.

This is a guy ive been travelling with and spent a fair amount of time partying with in copenhagen. I was supposed to be hanging out with them last night but decided to take it easy. Its pretty fucked up to see. Its hard to know what to believe too, the guy is a bit of a shit disturber looking for fights all the time so its hard to believe he was just joining the group after the incident in the bar. Some of the stories going around involve him bottling a turkish guy in the bar... Either way, its pretty scary shit, hes so lucky to be alive. If the cops wouldnt have gotten there so soon it would have been alot worse.
Real reality check. Guess copenhagen isnt all pretty and clean...
