the mystery of life...
remember when you were a kid and everything was fascinating? when your imagination was boundless and crazy was fun? I've been contemplating this for a while... where does all of the mystery of life go? I feel like I'm trapped in this box of routine... I sleep, go for a walk, go on the computer for a while, go to the gym, work, sleep, and go visit the girlfriend on the weekends, where we sit at her house, doing nothing... we try to think of things to do, nothing comes to mind... every so often I'll visit friends and we'll sit at esquires and chat, but there is only one friend I can rely on to be around, because he's the only one unemployed... and that right now is as interesting as my life gets... I have hobbies, but they just work into the same old routine... but its all the same things... with no real change... how does one change the cycle? how does one make life interesting again? its been so long since I've felt anything I could consider a truly distinct emotion... not that I don't feel at all, but everything is grey... its like I'm constantly bored... I need an adventure... or something...

try investing in a car battery, nipple clamps, and a jumbo size tub of vaseline.
If that fails: Get a job, even if it's dead end. Even if it's not a career it'll leave you with some cash, work experience, and give you the chance to network with people. If you're interested in school but not sure what to take, head up to your local college/university and have a talk with a councilor. They're there to help you focus your thoughts and talents. Too much time at home kills the brain, thinking to much. Head down to the community center and enroll in a sport, volunteer, go to the gym. Anything to get you involved. Everyone gets into a rut now and then. Someone told me once, "the only difference between a rut and a grave is depth". The more you sit around getting discouraged, the harder it is to get on your feet again. The more you experience the world, the more challenges you take on, the more people you meet, the more you're going to feel alive. Just get active. Keep your head up, it's not going to be 'blah' forever. |

I find that I go through phases where I feel like my life is nothing but routine and I hate when it gets like that.
When we're kids we're so fascinated by everything because it's all new to us and we don't have the same responsibilities. I think one of the reasons people decide to have kids is so they could watch their child experience everything for the first time. I think that innocence is beautiful.. just watching a child see a rainbow for the first time and find that much beauty in something we'd completely overlook because of our hectic schedules blows me away. So yeah maybe try babysitting or what I find really helps is taking a trip down to the beach or a park and watching a sunrise or sunset. Just taking the time to go down their and enjoy something like that really reminds you that the world is a beautiful place. It sort of disassociates you from all of the craziness going on and brings things back into perspective. Anyways, good luck |

Drive up to Lynn Canyon and go cliff jumping..
Drag that unemployed buddy of yours with you, and you're girlfriend... and live a little..this may not solve all of you're restless boredom...but trust me on this, it sure beats sitting at home and contemplating wether or not to use the thumb muscle to change the channel from Oprah to Maury.... What abut working overseas for awhile?...If you have the flexibility to do such a thing go for it! peace, and best of luck finding some spontanious adventure. |
