Nah I had surgery done to get something removed from my Jaw that time.
Are you just going under general anesthesia? I think the wake up for me was weird, all I could do was sleeeep. I'd get lots of popsicles but often fall asleep while eating them. It also made me throw up hours later. Getting the gas is super fun though if that's the way you are going. I remember getting another surgery done that way and I woke up and everything was hi-larious. I remember waking up and just laughing and laughing and laaaaughing at striped wallpaper of all things! haha |

i remember getting the gas in england when I was a kid... i'm not sure if they do it here for dentistry. it was fucked up, though... it seemed everyone was laughing (but like, an evil laugh) at me... pretty scary for a five year old.

i had to get my appendix taken out back in grade 9. best experience ever! well the pain beforehand when i had appendicitis sucked, but the surgery went really smooth. got knocked out by gas, woke up in the recovery room, was really thirsty and out of it so they gave me small icecubes to munch on. when i finally did recover i spent a day and a half in the hospital just watching movies and eating icecream!

how you will be after you wake up depends on a lot of different factors!
if you're going to be under general anesthesia through an endotracheal tube, you might wake up with a sore throat and hoarseness in your voice. when I went in for orthopedic surgery, I remember it being the weirdest experience... you're in the OR and this lady gives you mask and tells you to start counting... then all of a sudden, you wake up in a totally different room. so fucking weird. after that, I remember feeling incredibly groggy and sleeping a lot. nausea and vomiting is also common (if you're doing either local or general). I had some soup and threw up right away. they wanted me to leave that day, but I couldn't because I was still so knocked out from the anesthesia. However, doctors will usually prescribe antiemetics to prevent and treat the nausea nd vomiting... unfortunately, I don't remember them putting any through my IV :( I also remember the pain afterwards was pretty fucking excruciating. it was almost as bad as when I first injured myself. now that I look back on it, I don't even remember them giving me any morphine... oh well, it was quite a while ago. oh, and if you're going under a spinal, you'll probably feel some headaches afterwards :P either way, I don't think you should be too worried... good luck! --Joanne :P |

i got my tonsils removed almost two years ago, and i woke up and tried to talk but couldnt really. asked for my brother, which was weird.
then the pain started to trickle in. they had torn the sides of my mouth a bit and it was all scabby and stingy, and my doctor didnt believe in coderizing the wounds because the scar tissue would be worse, so i was bleeding into my tummy, not alot, but enough to make me feel a little sick. i refused the popsicle. when i got my wisdom teeth pulled, they knocked me out. and waking up from that was fine. i never had any pain, and wasnt really that groggy and was pretty coherent considering what had just happened. |

ugh i'm not looking forward to the sugury i got coming up..
tore 3 ligaments in my collarbone after being stupid, haven't really done anything about it other than the emergency room when it happened. had to work so i just worked with the injury... i have the big lump on my left shoulder which is really bugging me now. but yeah to repair it theyre taking out a tendon in my right knee, wrapping it around the collar bone to fixate it and at the same time supply cells to rebuild the ligaments. looking at 1 month on the sling and 6 months physio.... but in the end it'll be nice to finally get it fixed... |
