help please
so i'm getting fed up with the way things are going in my life, and it's time for a lil changey change. there'll be repercussion (parents/boss) but as of right now i think it'll beat what i got currently going on
i'm contemplating dropping the career plan i've got going now, it's not going anywhere and i'm having second thoughts. i will get some menial full time job and taking on a lil more responsibility instead of relying on my parents all the time. i will save save save and travel travel travel. and in a couple of years hopefully i will figure out what i want to do and get on with it. good or bad idea? should i just stick it out for the next 5 years and finish off my apprenticeship? is it going to be a big disadvantage for me in 5 years when i'm 25 and just starting my career with a bunch of 18 year old highschool grads? |

F it Kels... Do the traveling. It will help u grow and figure out what u want to do with your life. Don't keep doing something just bc it's your plan that you've set up. U can always make a new plan. And if you're not enjoying yourself, then what is the point. Good luck!

Someone got teh travel bug :D
I met one girl when travleing. She had been doign it for about 3 years. Just wrok, save, go somewhere else... work, save etc. I somtimes think I should give this a shot? I dare you to be crazy and think you can never reget traveling at an age you are now. Soon youll have kids/familey/seriouse job that will keep you tied till your 60 somthing. If you dotn know what you want to do... why hang around here? |

Kelly, you need to have a career that you ENJOY.
If you're not enjoying your apprenticeship, you will most certainly not enjoy the career, so I say fuck it. For the last three years I've been working f/t at jobs that won't do ANYTHING for me other than develop my sales and communication skills. It took me until last spring to realize exactly what it is that I want to do with my life. Do what you need to do, Kel. Just do what makes you happy because essentially, life is just the pursuit of happiness. It's far better to be 20 and ditching your career to try new things rather than being in your 40s with a house, family, and tons of responsibilities and being miserable, but not being able to try something new because it's too much of a risk. There's no better time than now! |

Yup I agree with what everyone's saying. There are a lot of things you can do now but can't (or have a difficult time doing it) when you're older. If you're not happy with your life, you're the only one that can change it. It's not easy, and it's definitely scary. But change is good ;)

commiting to school won't cut me off from travelling. tons, most the people i know that are travelling are currently going to school or are done school.
rhiannon, tiff, nev.. it's not so much of me wanting to find my career now, it's that i don't want to come home in a couple of years and be applying at min wage jobs. i really feel like i should at have some sorta training behind me before i leave. |

Youre right Kels. I didn't travel until after I'd finished my program at school. This is the same program that I chose over going to Aus a couple years ago when I was accepted. I wanted to do the program first, get it done, and then work and thus afford travel. I will travel more... its just a matter of saving and taking time off when I can get it. Working in a school is great, bc I have summers off.
And, I think I heard somewhere that the average person makes like 7 career changes in their life time. That's a lot. You're never to old to go back to school and change your career path... It just get harder when u have responsibilities to balance while trying to complete school work. |
