omg, so this is my 4th day at my new job and the 1st shift that im completely alone, open to close, and it has been so busy, well 3/4 of the time it has been really busy. i thought there would be hardly any ppl coming in today cuz its a sunday and all the snow. oh well at least i close today at 4:30.

you know what's really annoying? that's illegal. you're not allowed to work alone, especially the whole day. i hate companies that do that.

i werk at a tanning salon, not the hardest job i the world ill admit, but when it gets busy there is so much to do, i have to do all the paper work for each person (when there are like 3-4 ppl waiting its hectic) and then i have to sanitise all the beds afterwards, ontop of laundry/sales/cleaning and everything else. but im happy to have a job at least

Well I hope you're getting paid for the amount of work you do. Nothing worse than being overworked and underpaid. I'd rather the reverse myself. ;)

it's illegal for two reasons,
one: it's illegal to not give you breaks
two: if you are hurt on the job, there is no one there to call for help
(worker's comp takes care of that end, and the business owner is liable for anything bad that happens like that)

Actually, it's not illegal.
I looked into this when I started working at my tanning salon, too.
There are exceptions to the laws in the Act, and this is one of the exceptions. There are LOTS of jobs where people work alone.

^^ yeah, most of the times im werking with sumone else, but on sundays ill be alone. good to know im not breaking the law, lol. :)

we only have 8 beds. but i donno, it gets pretty busy on weekdays, i just started werking there last week so that could be partly the reason why im werking with someone now. but during the busy season and some days through the week theres 2 ppl werking. where do you work?

^ Fabutan in Richmond. We have 5 beds, that's probably why we can handle working alone all the time :)

^^thats cool, yeah it gets pretty busy at times with 8 beds. but its all good tho, garanteed to never get bored. im at endless sun (courtenay) i just opened last year or sumthing.

I love how you have only worked like 4 shifts and allready you're tanning in your spare time. I noticed the other day how dark you are allready. I guess i'll have to come in there when you're working sometime to check it out.

hells yeah u gotta come tanning :) and i get free tanning soo...ya know...but i havent been that much, i just get dark really fast
