not being able to save money

so I have this really bad habit of spend spend spending all the time,and it needs to stop.On average every week i make 3-400 dollars in tips,and usually all I have to show for it is one expensive hangover and a couple shirts or accessories.

I try to save half of my tip money,but it burns a hole in my pocket and I just have to spend.And the same shit happens when I get my pay check too.

Does anyone have any tips or advice that can help me SAVE some of my cash???

i really wish i had some magical answer for you but..............i suck at saving too. unless i get a large sum of money all at once(at least $800) then saving is impossible for me.

so i guess my advice would be......really try and tough it out for one week and save up two weeks worth of tips. i find it's easier to save money when i have money, 'cause then you're still able to spend and some in the bank. that way if you only save $50 a week in tips it will eventually add up.

I know ppl that just basically just save thier cheque in the bank n live off their tips...

i have this problem too sorta...its so mcuh fun to spend money :( but anyway, i try and save at least half of every pay check. perhaps, if you have a chequings account you could open a savings account and transfer a portion of what you want to save into there(and not ever touch the account), and at home you could grab a jar or box or something and throw loose change that you dont wanan carry around into it periodically. eventually you should save up, thats what i do ts been working so far. =) good luck.

All you need to do is get one of those piggy bank things that you need to smash to open. You shove a few dollars in there and there's no way it's coming out. And don't cheat yourself by trying to get it out the same way it went in. ya dig?

I've had this problem for 2 years, so what i did was simple, i crashed my car, cutting down 70% of my expenses - Eliminating the big money eater does help! -
and if you dont have a big money eater then youre already halfway there! All you do is put yourself in a situation where you have to force yourself to save money honey! So me and my friend decided to move out together! bam, i have to save 70% of my paycheque now for that reason and well what do you know! i ended up saving alot more than i expected! Its just a habit, you need will power and a strong reason to actually save the money :) Putting the money in a bank account does help but i assume and hope that you already have one to deposit your moola in!

my pay check goes to my bills.

i think maybe i should just drink less and shop more,then id feel better about spenidng so much cash cuz then id actually have something to show for it!I like that idea.

go to a different bank and open a savings account...then go to your bank and tell them you want half your deposit to go into the other bank every payday...just give the new bank all your info and they can help you out..

Try what I did and get a joint account with one of your 'rents where you can put money in but both of you have to sign for it to get any out......it works........so instead of spending all your tips put half of them in the account and spend what evers left

go join president's choice banking, and set up the auto-deduct thingie they got. takes 2 mins on their website

you can make it take out 20/week, or 50/week, 50/every2weeks etc

something like that. don't hate on drinking, it's ok, just drink at a buddy's place as opposed to going to a club

im thinking about the whole saving money thing,and its not really appealing.

I think im just going to continue to spend but ill buy shit to show for it like tattoos and piercings and clothing lots and lots of clothing...and shoes.

open a savings account and put half your tip money in there. I was really bad at spending money on stuff I didn't need, so now every time I go to buy something, I ask myself, where will I wear this, How often will I use this, Do I really need 39 pairs of shoes, etc. It helps to think, no I will never use this or wear this, so why get it.

Also about the drinking, bring a set amount of cash with you and no debit or credit cards.

you can get an account from you bank or another one that you can cut off the getting access to unless you go physically to the bank and withdrawl. I usually do this. I put a lock on spending it, don't even have a debit card for this account and then I deposit however much I do into that account, but that's all you can do is deposit it. Then when it goes to spending it, you can't because you have no way of accessing it. I would deposit half of it every paycheque or every pay out for tips and keep the rest to yourself. You shouldn't not spend any of it because then you'll feel like you're working for no reason and that's not cool. It's ok to go out and enjoy life, you just havet o make sure you have enough money to do so
