I can see that you would become wise from suffering... that is if your learning from your mistakes or how to deal with certain emotions.
However suffering is caused by desire. And like winston said if you can detach your self from these emotions your are free! If your parents died in a car crash your feelings and emotions would tie you into morn and sadness.
