early burnout, or gettin' old so young?
i remember when i was 15, living on my own, going from party to after party, having a blast, crashing for a few hours, going to school, going to work, then going out again all weekend..
fast forward to being 19 and having to drink truckloads of coffee after sleeping through my alarm to make it through work all day, and feeling like CRAP after playing a 4 am set at a party, sleeping till noon and waking up.... now only a few years after that, i can barely make it past 1 am without starting to yawn; if i have a busy day i'm too exhausted to go out, and if i go out late i usually end up calling in sick to work the next morning. i'm frightened i may have burnt out my body at an early age, cause i don't know why i'm such a wimp. i take better care of my body than i ever have in my entire life, exercising 3 - 5 times weekly, eating healthy, and taking it easy a lot. so you'd think i'd be in tip top shape and able to handle an evening out? AM I JUST GETTING OLD? |

Could be a medical condition which is easy to get rid of, consult your doctor.
I have the same problem, but I think drugs played a big part in it... limiting yourself could be vital, quitting could be the best thing you've ever done, but that's only if you do drugs... |

^It's happened to me too.... when we all first started partying it was something brand new and you were easily hyped over the whole scene. Now it's the same old same old and not anything new.... I really think it's something that will pretty much happen to everyone.

NO! just that im sure most of us back in the day were pretty fucked up on drugs at parties and now where not, which could be a big reason why were so tired early on now. |

Not really, just sounds like it came from a book.

i haven't done drugs in years.. and i realize i'm not going to have the same staying power (or should i say "staying-up power") without that.. but my heart is still into what i originally loved.. the music. my heart still beats faster every time i'm about to perform... when i pick up a record or my microphone i still love it so much i start to tremble. what i'm talking about is just an honest debilitating fatigue that comes over me.. i can barely keep my eyes open. and my other friends, who don't do drugs, seem to be able to stay up and then just grin and bear it.
time and time again doctors have said i'm very healthy and fit, although i do have a chronic metabolic dysfunction, so maybe that's just it.. i'm always going to need a little "help".. i just wish that i didn't, because all i do right now is drink coffee and tea and with no dental plan for the last few years i can already see my teeth starting to suffer for it. maybe it's just that my clock is actually set to a corporate timeframe now? getting up at 7:30 am for work for the last few years straight.. BLAH! |

Some people get pooped out from drinking too much coffee. There is an optimum amount per day. None or not enough and you are lethargic and not sharp. Too much and you are dependent on frequent cups to get you going in the morning and to keep you energized, and then it burns you out by the end of the day. That's how it is for me anyway.

you're getting old.
One of my prof's back in college would chastize the students about pulling all-nighters with a "just wait till you're 22" statement. We all laughed it off as 22 wasn't that far away. But lo and behold as soon as I turned 22, pulling an all-nighter and/or not getting a minimum of 7 hours of sleep a night took me days to recover from... |

Ive totally burnt out these last 6 months, since Sept im constantly sick, always tired and its always something new wrong. All nighters are impossible now. When i was 16 id go to a rave every weekend and feel perfect on Monday morning, now im 21 and going to a rave means months of recovery time literally. I really think its just ive abused my body all these years and now im paying for it.

i wouldn't call what i'm doing "partying"! ahha. i DO work a lot, my day job plus my "career" in the evenings.. i go out to play, promote (thats killing me, flyering @ 3 am) and support friends, but i never pull all nighters anymore..
but i know what yer sayin. |
