I have a good friend who was in this situation and she needed out badly of a course she knew she was going to fail. She set up an appointment with the prof and (very courageously) told him she was desparately in love with him and that she couldn't concentrate on the course knowing that he didn't even know who she was. She was completely exused from the class without a 'withdrawl', money back and all were content. This was at UBC. In most cases, there are less dramatic ways to get out of classes.

Wow, that takes a lot of successful scheming, I'm surprised she was confident that it would work in her favor. My courses were mostly distance ed and there's no way that such a plan would have worked, neither would I have enough guts or desperation to do that. Creative.
Just a little update, I finished my last exam today and everything went smoothly. I received my first final exam mark and I ended up doing very very well.
