i dont know why you're asking other people to make those choices for you. No one knows you as well as you know yourself and only you will be able to decide what you wanna do. And don't get mad at your parents for bitching at you for slacking off. They're only trying to encourage you get out there and realize what you wanna do in life. So be thankful that they still care. Other than that I really have to advice for you. sorry budday!!

Well since you said you prefer the school near New West/Burnaby, which is Douglas, which is the school i went too. Then enroll and take some classes. If your interested in academics you could go into teaching, law, business, writing, accounting etc etc etc. A lot of people i see at douglas are taking the crim program to join the RCMP or get a job in the civil service. A lot of people do a 2 year transfer from douglas to a university(which is what i'm doing right now to SFU in september.)
There are tonnes of things you can do but you need to know what you want out of life. You can go into the trades which is a great thing to do right now especially if you moved to Calgary. The schools over in Calgary are even offering incentives to get students over there. But it all comes down to what you want to do and going out there and talking to teachers, administrators and other young professionals. See what others are doing and try and figure out what you want to do. No one is going to hand it to you. |

it takes time to choose. took me all winter to figure it out. and I'm still not totally positive I've made the right decision.
All a person can really do is buckle down and do alot of research on college courses and careers. See what's actually out there, see all of it, and you will be able to slowly put together a picture of things youd like, hate about a career so that the answer your looking for will materialize. It will be just like a school project. Its your future, your going to have to invest some serious time and energy into gathering the answers you need. -What do you like to do? -What kind of salary are you looking for? -What kind of work are you comfortable with? -What makes you happy in life? -What havent you done in life, but would love to do? -What would you regret if you never did it? all these questions and many more, you have to solve. then you may have a more defined idea of what your true calling in life is. |

i say get off your ass and get in a trade . After 3.5 years in my trade i am making 24/hr, and its just gonna keep going up. I will have work for the next 8 years gauranteed. After you get your ticket then you can quit and pursue something else if you dont like your choice, but at least you know you will be a qualified worker and will be able to return to that job later on. If your are gonna work a bullshit job making 9/hr then why not start off in a trade, at least you will get raises and work your way to something beneficial. As for myself i cant sit down in an office or push a pencil around, i would go nuts, I need to be moving around , building stuff. Taking a trade was one of the best choice i have made in my recent years. One more thing, dont let someone pick your courses, and dont go to school just for the fact of going. Go when you feel ready, go when you know what you want to do, otherwise you are wasting your time and money. Best of luck in the near future |
