What should I do? (grocery store situation)
So, I have been presented with a problem concerning my groceries and where I buy them.
I live a block away from IGA the neighborhood grocery store and about 15 mintues from Superstore. Now, IGA in comparison with superstore is relatively expensive. The idea behind the IGA experience is that when you shop you get a warm welcome and leave with a smile. The price of food is also higher. Superstore on the other hand is a cheap person's dream. Its huge! about 20 igas(thats alot of igas)!! Its very crowded and there is alot of food (imagine a market place in india but with more white people), that is superstore. Depending on what brand you buy here you can get some good deals. You will also have to pack you own groceries with these meansly little bags. so heres my dilemna. Do I casualy walk over to IGA and be prepared to spend top dollar for the same thing I can get at superstore 15 minutes away for a better deal? or do I drive through the burroughs of surrey jsut so I can save 5-10 dollars on a 40 dollar bill? Do people even think about these things? Am I going crazy? help. Matt "lost in aisle 9" Notting |

It really depends... I mean if you are doing a small shop then IGA forsure, but if your doing a huge shop that could include anything from cleaners, dish detergents, laundry detergents other house hold needs go to superstore. But from what i gather you live alone, so i dont figure you do HUGE shops.
Everytime we are at superstore i get sucked in to buying random things like fun colored cups and plates and shelving units (that just happend today lol) |

Gusto, shop online, that is hella expensive!
Princess yea you are right. I do think about these things, all the time! Superstore rocks, if I had one close to home, I would go there every time. Except for deli, i like markets or safeway for that. IGA is too expensive, even more then safeway or super valu. I live downtown, If I had a car, I would drive to superstore everytime I had to shop. And that is hella far. |

she was saying "leslie" I think in a sarcastic voice which therefore affected her face. I dunno. Gusto. 8 dollars shipping and the fact that they seem to only carry name brands. Atleast at superstore or even iga I can buy their bread for 99 cents rather then buying some disneyland bullshit. |

The only benefit that superstore has over any other grocery store is buying in bulk, if you're only going for a few things here and there then don't go there because you actually won't end up saving that much AND you ALWAYS leave the store with so many things you didn't go there to get (damn those impulse buys!)
ALWAYS buy your produce from small markets because you'll save a bunch. It's also better to get your bread from a bakery (quality is tops!). The closest grocery store to me is sketchy supervalu and I never ever go there, I'll take the extra few blocks to go to Safeway, better selection and service. |

As an ex superstore employ of 3.5 years, never buy any meat........ever. Actually anything handled by employ's I trust IGA, for anything else superstore is great though good prices and all that stuff. and honestly if you want a friendly face, just be friendly make small talk but no stupid jokes. If your happy it's nice to have polite customers in a english a sa second language customer based store
