the trail of blood ... advice needed
So imagine you're my roomate. You're at your boyfriend's house. A mutual friend of ours calls you at 10am asking about another mutual friend (we'll call him "guy") because guy hasn't shown up to work and isn't answering the phone. This is unusual and since guy is kind of emo, when he goes AWOL people start to worry. You say you have no idea and suggest that he try calling me. He responds that he already tried and I'm not answering my phone.
You try calling me a few times and decide to stop by the apartment on the way to work. On the concrete outside the building is a little puddle of blood. You go inside the building and there is a trail of bloody prints on the carpet, leading up the stairs, down the hall, leading directly to our apartment door. What would you think? My poor roomie flipped out, especially when she tried to get into the apartment and the deadbolt was on. She nearly lost it on guy when he answered the door. At the same time I'm waking up in serious pain... Turns out beer and stillettos and a freak piece of metal on the sidewalk added up to me pretty much slicing off the tip of my big toe last night. It hurts really bad :( So here's the problem: there is a very obvious trail of blood leading throught the building to my apartment. I try to be a good tenant and I feel pretty bad about it. Do I call my landlord and let him know about it before he finds it? Do I not tell him and try to clean it myself? I can borrow a steamcleaner and do it tomorrow morning. I can't really just leave it, but I don't want to call my landlord and tell him if I don't have to.........but if he finds it first would that be worse? Tell him how you cut your toe outside of the building and let him know you'll clean it up tomorrow with a steamcleaner. You're being a good tenant AND not risking eviction because your landlord thinks you've channelled the spirit of Lizzy Borden and bought an axe.

what you should have done is told him you cut your big toe on some broken glass that was in the entranceway, and then bled all the way to your apartment when you ran in to stop the copious flow. tell him you won't sue if he cleans it up for you and gives you a month free rent.

If its a really new clean carpet then yeah. If its a dirty ass carpet then there'll be clean spots in the filth. Hope its a clean carpet and then you can just steam clean that blood out. |

wow
well, at least it wasnt worse! good call on calling the landlord! things can go sour. never any fun getting kicked out for something silly! Id clean the spots first, see how it turns out. If they are spotty, just go back and do a 'quick' clean from where it started to where it ended! Would work for me. If your landlord wants you to do it all, im sure he will let you know. And unless he is a jackass i dont see why wouldnt be polite! You did call and admit and offer to clean up after all! Just my opinion Quote:

Had one a few years ago. I'm pretty sure they're good for 6 years or something. It still effin hurts. I'm hobbling around like a total cripple. :( Thinking about getting some crutches or something. It's awful. What sucks is I can't wear cute shoes for like a month now AND there will be no dancing for me @ R.A.W. on Tuesday. :( |

I went to the doctor today.
He was impressed, like, "Wow. It looks like you're taking very good care of it. It's nice and clean, it should heal up nicely, just keep doing what you're doing." It still hurts but now I'm not worrying about infection and he bandaged it up all nicely for me too. But I miss my cute shoes... :( |
