People in glass houses shouldn't cast stones. Secondly, like everyone has said here, no parent wants to hear it unless you are full fledged gay and planning your marriage to your future life partner. Parents also have fantasies of one day becoming grandparents and sharing that with you. Why put people through unneccessary confusion and heartbreak for something that you do for nothing more than attention. |

would you like to hear these things from your daughter? i'm with most people in this thread, if my daughter were to realize that she wanted to spend the rest of her life with another woman, then i would love for me to be the first person she goes to. but if this is just a strange rebound from a bad break-up, then please spare me the drama. IMO. |

Avana.. Impure... have either of you thought that just because you and your parents aren't liberal enough to know those kinds of things about eachother, doesn't mean all families wouldn't want to know?
My mom asked me once if I was having sex. . I said yes. She asked if it was with girls, I said yes. She asked if it was sometimes with boys, I said no. She wanted to know. Welcome to 2006, where the fuck have you been since the 70s? |

My mother went to her first rave in 1996. Longer than most of you have even known what a rave is. She has seen every trend come and go, right along side of me. And she rolls her eyes at the same things I do when it comes to things she thinks are silly. Girls making out in a corner don't phase her. But because I may or may not have tried it once does not mean I am going to broadcast it to her. She has limits and boundaries too. Do you want to want to hear the intimate details of your parents sex life? |

You guys would like to think that moms are all accepting and all appreciative of anything their kid tells them.
In reality, all that informing them that you're into "deviant" lifestyles really does is make them worry. because that's honestly what moms do best. Mine freaked out when I told her that I thought I was bi, and she's the most accepting and liberally minded person I know. |

When I was 15, my mother asked things of me that she wanted to know. To this day she still does. But she doesn't want to know everything. For instance, when I was 17, I decided to tell her about my piercings. She straight up said, I didn't need to know that. She proceeded to over worry about things like hepatitus c and infections. My fault for stepping in it, but hey, she was right, she didn't need to know. ps - your snarky little comment about me and mine living in the 70's is what set me off, maybe you forgot you put it in there. |
