Fly DJs are about to take off!
Media release Friday October 7, 2005. FlyDjs are about to take off! ~Who are we?~ FlyDjs is a community of all-girl DJs based in Kelowna BC. Our goal is to offer a friendly & supportive platform for any female DJ, DJ-to-be, MC, vocalist, or live performer willing to share and enjoy their music where gender is not an issue. We are not feminists and we are not anti-male. We are simply a group of Valley girls who are DJs or would like to be. ~Who is involved?~ JGirl is Jenn, a hyperactive socialite who was born and raised in Montreal's lavish nightlife scene. Jenn and her husband have made a permanent move to sunshiny Kelowna. Amanda Rude, a Nelson native, is also new in town but she is not new to the Kelowna DJing community. Together and individually, both JGirl and Amanda Rude have had regular DJing appearances all over the BC Interior's scene at events like outdoor shows, life & art festivals like Duotone Arts, fashion shows, the Radgalz 1st annual wakeboard competition, private events at restaurants, and club nights such as Higher Ground. Other ladies participating in the FlyDjs crew include Natty Dread, vocalist Laura, who is currently studying music and voice training in Nelson, BC, and our Vancouver-based Kelowna diva Miss Myte. ~What are we up to?~ FlyDjs is creating community! DJing is a fantastic way to express yourself creatively while making a musical atmosphere. The FlyDjs team is happy to offer the basics about DJing to any beginner wanting to learn the basic skills. Also, we look forward to meeting those intermediates curious to share their skills and maybe practice a little more. And finally, as DJs, we would like to get together regularly and spin records, share ideas, learn new skills, work on a mix, work on a bio, and talk about music and DJing and stuff and stuff. Do you DJ? Do you sign? Do you dance? Do you design? Are you an artist? Want to get involved? Email us [email protected] ! We want to meet you! ~Upcoming activities~ DJ Basix & Open Dex! …is taking place every Thursday until December 15th, 2005.
