matter of opinion i guess... Shambhala will be bigger no doubt, but Soundwave's location is much more scenic. Plus they've put a lot more thought into their lineup, from headliners down to locals. Having attended both multiple times, i can quite comfortably say Soundwave pulls a much better crowd, more just regular folks without the abundance of hippies & rednecks found at Shambhala. Sham has the really cool stages in the woods, whereas Soundwave's stages are just set up for the event... also being able to camp near your car is a big advantage for Sham.
one thing i can say for SW though, you will never hear the exact same music playing on 4 stages for hours at a time. Sham is notorious for this. Yeah, we know breaks are big in the koots, but give me a fucking break.
Plus, knowing the people behind the scenes of both events... i can tell you 100% the soundwave guys are more in it for the music & the community than any kind of financial gain. I cannot say the same about Shambhala.
