there are numerous tunes out right now within drum 'n' bass that are pushing that rock feel. wether it sounds like punk or even metal! the idea of clashing the two genres jungle & rock is not anything new at all. more tunes have emmerged from the underground with sounds tinted with rock 'n' roll.
concord dawn brought the scene "raining blood" off the parinoia ep on renegade hardware recordings this tune sounded more metal, searing throught the bass line with a mean guitar lick, and acomapnied by a guitar solo so good that it would make you want to grow a mullet! the boys of concord dawn also came with "don't tell me" on their own lable uprising records. "don't tell me" features vocalist, Tiki with his teenage angst type lyrics trying to speak to a younger generation over a b-line that is nothing but a catchy, analog power chord. how punk rawk is that? artists like Nightbreed and the new dub pack of wolves is more straight up rock than d'n'b. the lyrics are very rock and has a crazy guitar riff. take a listen :) but those tunes said are obviously overtonned with the sounds of rock. while at the same time new tunes by producers world wide continue to use rock elements as a tool within their tracks, but wont actualy make it the focus of the song. 'reese' samples used in most dark and heavy junlge tunes and almost mimic guitars but are worked and filtered within the laws and structure of d'n'b. check out dl or do whatever you have to do to stop your boredom: corrupt souls nightbreed concord dawn teebee gridlok psidream skc chris su http://www.dogsonacid.com/ http://www.outbreakrecords.co.uk/ http://www.dsci4.com/ http://violencerecordings.com/ http://www.blacksunempire.com/ http://www.psidream.com Last edited by C_squared; Jul 13, 04 at 06:42 AM. |

YEP, its been done a looooong time ago. Dig up the entire Digital Hardcore Recordings catalogue, dating back from say.. 1994 to now, like Doom mentioned. Digital Hardcore isn't for anyone, some of the scariest music you'll hear, but if ya really like politics & music, some good stuff can still be found. D-TRASH Records outta Ontario - and beyond - is your local Canadian affiliated punk, industrial, breakbeat, hard electronix label, with world wide distribution via Digital Hardcore Recordings outta Germany. D-TRASH Recs is also an MP3 label, so you can find MP3 releases on the site, and compilations and other releases at you local INDIE music shop - SCRATCH RECORDS, ZULU Recs, etc. They also distribute alot of left & anarchist aligned literature, music names/labels. If ya wanna hear the active punk/jungle hybrids, you'll have to venture outside of "commercial" dance music. Its challenging stuff, but there's tons of sounds to check out. I host a local hardcore electronix radioshow @ CiTR Radio called THE FEAR (check my sig...) and i do play alot of the sounds mentioned - subversive beats, gabber, breakcore, etc. You'll be amazed how many diversions there are to this "jungle" thang. Watch this space? Last edited by **TORMENT**; Jul 13, 04 at 08:42 AM. |
