Autobots and midi at the beaumont
wow. this show was the weakest thing I have ever seen.
The disapointment cannot be put into words. Pound Productions, you guys should be ashamed. why did i pay to see akeel trainwreck all night? why were there no headliners? why did you lie to everyone? I think in future you should boycott these weak talentless shows, cause really the money was for nothing. No headliners, weak talent, terrible sound. big ups to hirshee, but even if you ask him, he will be disapointed. I talked to him on the way out and he was sour. As a company, you need to focus in on what makes a show. ie talent, getting your shit together I want my money back. I would have been disapointed even if you paid me to come to your weak ass show What boggles my mind is the people who were satisfied with the quality of this production. You need to open you ears people. |

hey guys, everyone listen to the nobody. Nobody's know the score.
Shit I wasn't even there and I know you're completely unjust in what you just wrote. From what I heard the promoters did the best job in a worst case scenario. Not saying you should be happy, but calling them weak isn't really fair. |

i can confirm, Alison i think you should brush up your skills a bit more . I like your style and flow but it just wasnt cutting it for me. Im sure you 'll reach superstar status in no time.

It's a shame about what happened, but you have to expect people to bitch when they don't get what they paid for and no explanation. A brief announcement over the PA would have given people ample opportunity to be refunded and leave. That's show business.
And Kat, you're only hurting the company's image by telling people to shut up when you word it so that you come off as being affiliated with them (although I don't know if you actually are or not). It's petty and childish. After all, he's simply posting his review in an event review thread. Although a 2.5h set from Akeel would have been wild. |

Still sour
Hey PussyKat. I dont know where you're from.
Where I come from, we dont play around. A Dj getting stopped at the border for customs is the lamest excuse I have ever heard. One, who was the idiot, who arranged for the imbecil who went to pick him up? Two, how can somone who was allready been busted for bringing weed across the border be allowed back into the US again? Three, who's insightful idea was it to arrange for the DJ to comeover hours before the show? Four, why wouldnt you tell you crowd why the headliners arent coming instead of puting on Akeel for 5 hrs? Five, why would you lie to people, and tell them that the headliners are coming, to be patient, when really you know that your show is fucked.? Six, why would you try to censor me. That shit is the weakest of all. I had a bad time last night, plan and simple. So, I want to tell people cause Im sour, rightfully so. I paid for General Midi, and the Autobots. Not akeel trainwrecking and playing old tracks like bass phenomenon. If I would have known it was Akeel for 5 hours I would have gone to see Olav, or Malente. All in all it looks like "pound" dropped the ball on everything. All these hassles could have been avoided with organization. Or being honest with people about what is going on. Thats not so hard is it? |

Wally's got a point.
Although I see how the promoters were put in a very tough position, that's all part of the game and they should have been professional enough to handle it very differently! An announcement that there would be no headliners and offers for full, or at least partial refunds was clearly the way to handle it. They had MCs that were still yelling about 'Autobots and General Midi' at 1 am! The crowd had a right to know the truth, but instead they kept everyone in the dark (and as a result seem to have kept everyone's money at the same time). By lying to everyone including their MCs, and dealing with the situation by simply leaving Akeel playing for hour after painful hour, all these promoters did was make themselves look very very bad. The situation itself apparently couldn't be helped, but the way it was handled COULD HAVE. Why should they be given a chance to 'make it up' They have posted NOTHING, and haven't even acknowledged what happened or offered explanations and refunds. I've been around the scene for a long time now and this is the single most unprofessional thing i've ever seen. A crowd of hundreds of expecting people were left standing in confusion all night, wondering where the headliners they paid to see were, and why Akeel seemed to just keep on playing. I personally will never attend another 'Pound' event and i really hope that someone from the company does something very fast (at this point i see nothing short of full refunds can save them) to remedy the situation. WallyChamp and every other person who paid good money for nothing has every right to be mad and deserves their money back.

I didn't attend this event nor do I absolutely cared from it at the very beginning. But I believe that Pound made the proper decision to keep the event open. Reason being?.... They already paid for the rental of the venue let alone the equipment that they also have to rent, and the contract with security (if there was security again I did not attend), what would be the point on already renting the venue and equipment when your not going to use it if one were to cancel?. Being also on a day such as st patricks day other events were indeed packed as well as bars. Obviously this was a last minute decision and to provide more of a disappointment if they were to completely shut it down would create more furious people.... Simply because where would they go??? everywhere else is packed. The fact of the matter is that lately customs has been a bitch.... and really when you look at it, It ain't going to get any better, which in turn sucks for promoters because they can loose serious coin on event's.

That's all part of the game though, Joe. You can't justify lying to your audience and keeping their money by saying it would be more of a disappointment to shut down the show. They should have been given the choice to stay and enjoy Akeel's set or leave in time to still have a great night.

You definitely seem to be missing the point.
I have no problem with them keeping the venue open and going ahead with the party. The problem lies in the promoters missleading the people who paid money for something they were never going to get. Shit happens, but the way you handle the situation is what really counts. These promoters were dishonest and instead of offering solutions just kept quiet, while keeping everyone's money at the same time. In my opinion it's completely ridiculous. I've never seen such an obvious attempt to lie and avoid dealing with a problem just so you can still make money off people who would not have come to the show at all if it weren't for the 2 great headliners that they paid to see. The situation is embarassing enough, but the fact that there has been no word at all from the promoters as to how they're going to make this better is the real embarassment.
