glad you kids have your first experience with mile 36. magical place, isn't it? it gives me warm fuzzies!
that location has been used for years for fullmoonparties/gatherings of the tribes/little ravey raves and nearly all of them have been donation based. since that's how things work. people donate their gear/talents to the party to ensure that there's sound/djs/etc for the party to happen, and then people donate their presence and a bit of cash to help cover for costs. now i realize that chills was just a one time thing and only had a 10 dollar price tag. i think that's moderately acceptable. the type of crowd they were catering too would probably cheapo out at the gate anyways, so i doubt donations would have been that signifigant anyways. however, i am afraid that this will set a precedent. that since nolan has thrown a seemingly successful (waiting for confirmation on the fine) party out there that *did* charge money, maybe other promoters who have lost their outdoor venues in chilliwack should see mile 36 as yet another location to exploit. how long will it be that actually charging money for tickets is not seen as novelty, but becomes the status quo? how long before twisted throws a party there, or god forbid, ghouse? 20 dollar ticket prices have already been tried up there (much to the disgust of myself and many others), and it was the hippies who tried to pull that off too. (although, their party wasn't nearly as high profile, so it wasn't really a threat to the status quo.) if 20 bucks has been done... why not 30? hell, why stop there? let's charge 40 bucks for a party thrown on PUBLIC LAND! yeahhhhh... forestry is really going to like that. i'm sure they'll just gladly sit back and watch the destruction of a campground enjoyed by respectful people throughout the year. garbage? no big deal! it'll break down. fucked up people driving off the road? social darwinism! oh, and i'm sure they'll be fine with people making money off of these shows, because that forest practises code thing? oh pfft. that's not the law. those are just guidelines! hoo haw! much like tower beach, the authorities know about the parties that go on there, but as they're usually safe, small, quiet, and harmless, they don't give a damn. as soon as those parties become large, full of rowdies, dirty, and disregard the law blatantly, then you can be assured there won't be a blind eye to be turned. so kids, now that you've had your mile 36 cherries popped, i'd like you to think about how great it'd be to party up there again and again and again. and how that spot should be treated with respect, care, and love. it is a magical area. please, whenever you go to a party up there, take into consideration who is throwing it and how they will treat the location. and if you go to a party up there and see something which you think is not right (ie pollution, over promoted crowd), then SPEAK UP. this is a very sensitive area and fuckups cannot go unacknowleged. accountability is key. okay... uhh... that's it nstuff. |

And you guys right behind us tha whole time......I was fucken smokin a joint to my head at tha time and as soon as I saw tha cop flash his lights I threw out my joint and croched my weed in a split second........fuck we were drivin pretty fast and we were lucky tha cop wasn't an asshole and searched us. I had a pretty fun time. However, i was expecting really good music. I like jungle but jungle on all 3 stages at the same time. YIKES!! I wouldn't mind it so much but it was all the exact same kind of jungle. There is more than just the hard kick your ass jungle!!!! Plus NO BREAKS. the only thing i got to hear was some breakstep by mark at the main stage. too fast to be called breaks but hey, at that point i was happy with anything but jungle. (did i just say that?????) Being exhausted from drinking all day at fun in da sun and then resuming my drinking at Chills, made my tolerance of any "hard" music kinda intolerable. I really liked the view. but really didn't dig the crowd. seemed very bitter/jaded and the party had no vibe. would give shout outs but I'm a lazy bum. The only one goes to adam. Thanks for driving buddy. My car would've gotten eaten alive by that road!!!! Check your trunk.Have fun gettin hammed!!!!!

well, really, what can i say..that whole adventure was a total gong show..from the 140km/h rally racing down the logging road, to the drinking of a litre of hard liquor and copious amounts of chronic. i remember very little of the night. except for having caitlin and haydn having to pick my semi conscious body off the ground only to have me fall of the cooler once again only momens later. to the bottling of the tree, generally runnign around like a drunkin asshole yelling retarded shit...it was fun except for the spranied ankle, dirty body/lungs and sore back which i only noticed when i got home...seriously, you guys are gonna have to remind me o all the shit i did because i don't remember any of it!
