First I agree the sound in the BC Room was not distorted in actual fact I thought it sounded pretty good for myself. The falling of the cabinets is not possibel from vibration alone. I have never ever seen cabinets simply vibrate off a stack and this comes from over 14 years of setting up sound systems. I saw that set-up in that room and if you noticed whomever had pulled tight and tied off a piece of white drape to the speakers had it so tight that it wsa actully pulling the tops off the bass cabs. Sure vibration may take a small factor in this but if the PA was set-up before hand then someone else came in and did the decorations maybe they didn't realize that you NEVER ties anything to a PA stack that is the first rule of thumb. Bridging an AMP to accomadate a situation like that is absolutly fine. I have worked on concert tours with huge international artists and in a pinch you do whatever it takes to keep the show running and in a situation like described that seems to me to be the most reasonable solution. I have also worked with the company that did the show down there in tha past and I have nothing but good things to say about that company. Generally when I hear comments on these message boards there are how do you say......uneducated comments. I am not saying that you are uneducated but there is usually two sides to a story and I make it a rule of thumb that I hear all sides before passing a judgement or saying anything. All I have to say is I'll be down at Fusion Dreams and we'll see if the sound then runs into the same problems as they did for you. <aybe they will but just maybe a change in Dj's will affect the audio. Only time will tell.

Your right, there was decorations tied to those speakers.. I dont know how tightly they were tied on but I couldnt see them being too much to bring a 100 pound speaker off the sub cabinets. When I went to the KISS show to do sound checks, I saw the sound tech double tape down each speaker and then wrap them all tightly together with tape so they wouldnt move away from eachother. I dont know if that is a comonly practiced technique but it sure did the job for that show.
As for the Fusion Dreams show, every show is different and hopefully everything will go off without a hitch = ) |

And as far as accusing Kraig or yourself of things all i can say is I didn't I said I heard that that was what happenend. I guess it's easier to get blamed for things when you touch things you shouldn't if the gear was never touched then there can be nobody to blame but the sound company but as soon as the equipment is touched by other hands then the blame can be placed on others at that point. I hope you see my point. I'm not trying to be nasty I'm just making observations and trying to inform the people that aren't educated about the rules and regulations of the city and events. It just makes me laugh when people place the blame on others when they could be to blame themselves but they just don't realize it. Which I guess is kinda worse. Anyways whatever is whatever and life goes on!!!!!!!!

I just want to see everyones shows go as well as possible and for people to be able to have a good safe time. I look on these message boards to get feedback on certain issues to maybe put my own show together. I'm actually looking into GM Place but everything is very loose right now. It seems that the Plaza o Nations is the only place doing this kind fo stuff right now and thats kind of a let down. here's hoping that the scene rises above all this stuff and everyone can throw some kick ass bashes without the city comming down on everyone.

and I really don't want to do the Pacific Collissium. I actually want to do it in BC Place but they said in a nut shel.....NO. Which was funny but GM Place seems to be a little more open to the ideas these days. X'ing my fingers.

I am always getting blamed for something or rather which is really interesting! - Comes with the territory I guess. :-p
Let me just clear the air though by mentioning that I didn't touch any settings or equipment that evening and left that entirely up to Precise and Masterplan. Ask the Masterplan dude, I wouldn't even touch a level on the amp and would run and grab him when I needed an adjustment done. G-Style - I am old enough and have enough business sense to know that it's Masterplan's equipment and ultimately we pay them to ensure it is setup and configured properly and also to make adjustments as the night goes on. As we don't want to be held responsible for equipment in any way, this is why I only ask people that know what they are doing, IE: Precise, to ensure the equipment is setup properly IN ADVANCE of the show. Heresay is lame and immature, please put the rumour of me or any other Twisted employee frying amps or speakers to rest. Given you know a fair bit about this equipment, if you had any issues with the sound in either of the three rooms, then I would encourage you write an email to Masterplan directly ([email protected]) and then CC either Azim or myself. It is that kind of constructive feedback that will allow us to present a business case to Masterplan. Peace. |

I never said that you guys did anything I just said that is what I heard. Now if there is any truth to this matter I do not know. My original comment was that first and for most for people that are complaining about volume levels that it is out of the control of the promoter and also the sound company and that there is nothing that they can do about it as it is a city issue not a venue or promoter issue. 2nd of all it's very hard for a sound company to maintain good quality sound throughout a venue when other people are changing settings on equipment. It's simply because I have been in the situation before and i know it can be very frustrating. Also different Dj's set up their boards differently and that can also effect the way things sound so it is not fair to continuely be complaining about the sound when there are many factors that can effect the sound during an event that runs for almost 10 hours. Maintaining consistency for 2-3 hours like a concert is a different story to rave that has multiple rooms and multiple entertainers. No disrespect was intended at all.

HEY, I figure I should get my two cents in here to. I do professional light and sound for large event. I don't know everything but I sure know that the sound company did a wonderful job. I agree the sound was distorting in the main room and I feel that it was caused by the DJ's turning up the gains to much. As for what I have read here and saw at the show what knowladge or qualification does precise have that he can go and mess around with the sound system. IF YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT YOU ARE DOING DONT TOUCH IT.
I think everybody should give he guys at masterplan a pat on the back for working so hard to try and make it good, let them know the positive things that you would like to see for future show. Help inspire them with creative Ideas. well that is it for my bitching. See you all at the next gig. Good job Masterplan sparky |

I have bene in communication with them for the past 3 months and have had over 5 meetings with the venue and the city. The venue does have it's concerns but most importantly it's willing to work with us. This is the first sign in 4 years that they are even considering the concept. We are working together to hopefully have something to put together middle of next year.
