too bad they had to shut it down, the venue was pretty dope and had the potential of being a good party.

i'm sure the next one will be good!

We would love to have these events in COQ, but it seems that (like many other places) COQ has a rather stringent anti-fun law in effect. The only way the powers that be will ever leave us alone is simply to head further into the bush, and thus slightly annoying drives - but we promise it will be worth your while.

Hirsh and Jeff, you guys rock - thanks for the hour and a half.
Cinto, thanks for the moral support.

We will return and we will be triumphant.

That really sucks that your party got shutdown, it's really hard to throw these types of parties in bush if you don't know what you're doing.

But i have to ask... did you ever think to do some research and stake out the place first? Firstly they don't give out street names in the bush if nobody lives on em. Especially since the cops frequent that area 9/10 of the times during this time of the year when they find stolen cars and if anyone ever bothered to drive up to the end of the main road that there was the Port Coquitlam Gun Club.

But seriously though, props on your efforts to throw a party in Coquitlam. This is one party I was really thinking of attending since it was so close to home.

If your looking for other places in Coquitlam, there aren't any, trust me I've spent my fair share of looking for spots.

Don't bother throwing parties up at Stave lake, they'll be adding a gate up there by the end of this summer courtesy of the local 4x4 club.

Good luck to future searches.

Our research was done, we were well aware of the gun club and were also aware there was private property at the end of the road. Unfortunately, your statement regarding there not being any other spots is completely true - and not just for COQ but pretty much every town. Basically unless you luck out and know someone with property in the middle of nowhere you've got to take the risk and hope for the best. We lost this one, on a fabricated complaint at that, but we'll just have to find a better spot for next time.

Yah, feel free to check out the 90 degree thread for some well educated comments from one of those 4x4ers. There's still hope for Stave though since it is hydro property and they have been known to give permission in the past, just gonna have to be extremely diplomatic now and hope that the 4x4 club doesn't keep thinkin they own BC.
