as far jacking up the price of cover goes, i too feel like i got screwed. would i have paid 20 bucks to see Dumonde? sure i would've. but advertising $15 for a show that consists of 2 dj's and then adding on an extra 5 at the door becuase "unexpectedly they both came" is fuckin bullshit! if they only expected one of them to be there why didnt it say so anywhere? as far as i remember all advertisments said "January 2nd, 2004: Dumonde'; not just one of them. as far as the rest of the night went, i had a blast! awsome tunes and awsome freinds always make for one hell of a night! |

Garry, it's a club.
All drink prices are up to the venue, unless the promoters work out some sort of specials list with the gm or the club's promotions manager prior to the night. All that is besides the point, they use fucking solo cups for beer, and little tiny plastic cups for their mixed drinks, and even smaller plastic cups for shooters. Their selection of booze is almost laughable, hell at any given time I have a better selection floating around my apartment than that "FINE" establishment. The previous owners of "The Rage" were smart to get the hell out of that money pit, it has been plagued by nothing but problems, lots of violence, a less than desirable clientel, and a shit load of reno's that probably should have been done if had any hope in hell to compete with the rest of the downtown core. Back in the day that venue was a great place to go see live acts, hell I remember being at quite the rememerable blur concert there back in '96, but as soon as the commodore re-opened the downward spiral started. It was basically neglected, and when I heard that the previous owners had sold it, I had some idea that they might fix it up and make good use of the space, WELL THAT SURE AS HELL DID'NT HAPPEN. Well I could rant to all ends about this place and some various others, but what can be said has already been stated a thousand times over. |

Dumonde at IMF was good due to the fact the music was super loud and they played their fan favourites. I nailed every track they laid down 3-5 seconds after they were cueing it up.
Dumonde at the Cave was much better since they were playing fresh music (soooo many hand written white labels!) and in a more intimite setting. |
