Quannum tour: quanum mc's, Blackalicious & dj shadow.
all i can say is holy shit.. me and my buddy were sketching about getting in, but we got tickets at the door.. got in.. heard j-live walkman music into souls of mischief into gangstarr, into some other good tracks.. then d-sharp came on played some funk/soul and i heard Bob marley who shot the sharriff, but once the show got going it was a progressive set that just kept getting the crowd going and going, they kept going off stage, getting the crowd CRAZY then bringing it to us with like 4 encores.. make u feel that way and chemical calestenics really got the crowds nuts.. actually every beat and verse they layed down made the crowd go absolutely nuts.. i had the best time ever......
Side note, anyone remember when they came back on stage wearing the "dead presidents" style white face paint, and did that political track about the cia and got everyone to put there fist up saying "u have the right to resist!!!!!" that was a powerful track!!.. i dont think thats off Nia or Blazing arrow.. is it some new side project track? or something old i haven't heard? please school me cuz i loved that track.. i wanna listen to it again!!!! whoever missed out, really missed out... damn what a great night... |

not sure what it's called but i'm pretty sure it's a track off the Lifesavas lp
fucking hot show all around. Lifesavas were very impressive, totally held their own alongside the rest of the crew... Lyrics Born is the king, most original voice in hiphop imo. Lateef's rhymes were on point and he seemed the most energetic of the bunch, despite his sore throat... and Gift of Gab has an immensely powerful stage presence, he had the crowd wrapped around his little finger. Shadow & the other DJs stayed out of the spotlight for most of the show, which was fine as the beats pretty much spoke for themselves (ed- Shadow's not a battle DJ, i don't think it would really be his style to bust out a 'solo' showcase in the middle of a show). Unfortunately it seemed as though the commodore's sound tech's were, as usual, sleeping on the job, and many microphone level issues ensued. I don't know whether those guys have permanent deposits of shit in their ears or what, but they managed to mar yet another excellent show with stupid technical problems. sound issues weren't enough to stop the crew from turning the place out though, the crowd was going mental the whole time and everyone left with a smile on their face.... props to spectrum & all involved, definitely the show of the year thus far! the spaniards spread their seed all over the 'pines back in the day
like wood spread his seed all over victoria the real reason he left victoria was becuase of the babymama drama - too many children to support - i mean dozens! about 3/4 of the pinoys and pinays i know have spanish last names |

I must that last night definitely opened my eyes to some new talent;
New talent? nearly all of Quanum is around a decade plus or so old. Even The Lifesavas are getting up there in age. Lyrics is old enough that hes on his second mc name by now :P Anyways im still pissed as cat in the bathtub over this missed show. That Lifesavas Resist track is possibly the hip hop sleeper track of the year, i wouldve given my left nut to see that live........oh well hears hoping the whole crew comes back again next year, in the mean time ill just go listen to the quanum live radio one album and pretend im at the show :( B//F |

I agree with most of what has been said here. Lyrics Born really impressed me--I mean, Gift of Gab was everything I was expecting and more, but Lyrics Born just blew me away. I was expecting a Shadow solo too, but I wasn't too disappointed that it didn't happen, since the show was awesome and I had a wonderful time.
Thanks spectrum! |

Unreal!!!
If you missed this show, all I have to say is SUCKA!!! Most hyped show I've seen in a long ass time. IT WAS ALL ABOUT LYRICS BORN!! I say he's one of the most underrated MC's out there. I danced all night long man. I was so impressed with the structure of their show, and their ability to connect with the audience so well. You felt it you know what I'm mean? RESIST was sick, I swear I saw tears on stage. I'm with you guys on the dissapointment with the the lack of the Shadow solo. (However, I did get to meet him at the end of the night and tell him I loved him... that was fantastic.) Gift of Gab Alphabet Aerobics at the VERY END of the show?? DAAAAMMMNNN!!! The show was SICK... all I have to say.
THANKS SPECTRUM!!! "Tomorrow never comes until it's to late...." |
