sweet party, good times good friends. no drugs.
danced my asssssss off. whoa, not that i had one to lose... acoustics at the house stage licked my hairy ballsack, i walked through the mainstage maybe once... spent most of my time at the breaks stage where the freestylers rocked my socks. to tired now. must sleep before sunday drinking.... |

i thought this party had the makings of a good one.... that was, until i arrived there.
anyways... to keep things short: - too large of a space (for all 3 rooms) with too few people... which felt like something was missing for sure. - the acoustics, especially from the back of the main room, was absolutely horrible. - Oakenfold was disappointing to say the least... he looked very bored up there on stage as if he didn't want to be there. He played a few good tunes, but his set wasn't filled with them either. Is it just me, or did he play for hour and a half only instead of two hours? Oh well... at least I got to see him for the first time tonight.... although not too impressed at all. The one upside was hearing Phynn play. I liked his set a lot more than Oakenfold's.... he played some really good "trance energy" type tracks. |

Not much to say here..
I got Oakenfold to sign a couple of my recs, I should sell them on ebay,,, what an arrogant fucking bastard. Thanks to Azim for inviting me to the show, was nice to see most people were having a great time. Greetz, Dan |

As for Oakenfold himself I must say he look quite pissed when I saw him spinning. I believe he stopped playing with 10 minutes left? Not too sure. People told me it was 30 minutes left. Anyhow for a DJ with that high of a calibre and to disrespect his fans (Danny in this case) just makes him seem so low. *sigh* definitly a disappointment for a guy that has so much respect from the people who like trance, but yet he doesn't respect them back. With his talent and name being so big I will say that this does go in the blackbooks with a lot of TA's. Sad, but true. Anyways props to the people who i Saw which weren't too many of you. Ben, Adam, Gia, Geoff, Kamal, Harp, Den8tor, and all the other people I forgot I'M TOTALLY SORRY, but always a pleasure seeing you all as usual!!! I'm beat. It's been a long day for a few others as well myself. =) Cheers! PS. Hopefuly everything makes sense it's 10 mins to 8 understand myfeelings!!! |

Honestly i dunno what to think. Its been a LONG night of good tracks and good friends.
In short i didnt have fun b/c of personal stuff so my review of this night isnt creditable? I thought that this was a good party overall though for the mostpart |

wish i had known ahead of time it was gonna be so weak
sorry detn8r, but oakenfold sucked!!!! he didn't even finish! asshole! i was hoping for at least a popular track like 'ready steady go' phynn is now on my list of great djs to see. now what was up with everyone before oakenfold fucking up? i heard that it was because nobody was used to oakenfold's oldschool deck house room got the shaft, acoustics were terrible, didn't enjoy much of the time spent there.. but not to be entirely negative i started enjoying myself around 4am.. and as always azim played some favorites that made me leave with a smile time for bed, or maybe later |

That has got to be the most frustrating nights ever in all my years of throwing parties.
I gotta give mass props to Masterplan and that entire crew. The reality is that venue absolutely sucks for accoustics.. in EVERY room (not just the House room). It is one big cement block which is horrible for sound reflection. The boys at Masterplan did as good a job as they could to make it work as much as possible. They were there the entire night because they knew the accoustics sucked and therefore were making adjustments the entire night. And the end of the day though, you can bet we will never be throwing a party in that venue though! Without spending 10's of thousands of dollars in sound curtains, it sucks for sound... It's a sporting facility. As for the mixer on the main stage... Yes it was a Rane Rotary mixer. A bit of a shocker for some of our locals not ever have seen one before let alone used one! Masterplan was making frequent adjustments to equipment up there (IE: mounting the decks on these air pillow-type things, checking CD-DJ's, etc...) during sets. So... MASS props to ALL of our locals - Kamal, Montanna & Res, Tazix (and I really feel for him as one of the tables/needles was giving him probs -- and that was on top of using a rotary mixer he has never seen before!). The Breaks room was a impossible to have sounding good... and trust me, we tried EVERY combination of changing the configuration and setup of that room, minus putting up sund curtains which cost a fortune. (Thanks Dabbler for your patience bro.) By the end of the set Ryan (Precise) and I played, and after numerous adjustments during that time, we had that room sounding as good as it was going to get... just in time for The Freestylers. Shouts to my boys Matt and Aston who played a great set FULL of tunes from all over the map. Old Skool Breaks, New Skool, Speed Garage, Drum n'Bass, you name it, they played it and had a good time doing it! -- Be rest assured I will be bringing them back. I can't comment on Oakenfold or his set/attitude as he was on roughly the same time as The Freestylers and I was tending to them. Shouts out again though to ALL our locals for their patience and understanding with that venue. The Freestylers and Phynn (from what I heard) did a great job. Thanks to all those who attended as well! -- Those I did see seemed to be having a great time. Cheers. Last edited by Kraig; Jun 28, 04 at 02:52 AM. |

I would have to say I was not impressed by the freestylers. By the end of their set I was sure that they must have borrowed precise and kraigs records for the hour they had. They played alot of dated breaks and too be fair some new shit but I expected more. Everyone was going off in that room though so I guesss thats reason enough to just drop bombs the entire time.
Oakenfold does not play hard trance so don't expect him to play it while banging his fist in the air "pumping you guys up" He plays very mellow melodic trance and house and he usually plays it to 1000's of people. I don't know why he wouldnt be "feeling" it. Tazix did a good job at setting the mood for oaky to play but the djs before him were playing pretty hard which doesnt make sense. cool place to party minus the echo and the mainstage looked wonderful. Good job twisted for bringing out two giant names to van. |

seems like it wasnt that great of a party ... too bad thas shitty... had sum pretty dope djs too man.... sall good.
in MY opinion i say everyone just go to IMF .... as a make up party bc i think that it will rock everyone's socks off man... and its in the coliseum not the agrodome so the sound and vibe etc will be dope... crazy djs as well so hit it up!! IMF IMF!! |

To be honest I was filled with trepidation heading to this event. Oakenfold has always held a very special place in my heart but I was worried that I was too old to be going to this type of event..........what a pleasant surprise to see most people were 24+ years old. I didn't really see many kids (also didn't really look for them)
The mainstage opening sets were unfortunate but Dennis (Tazix) to his defense played amazing prog despite technical problems..........and he dropped the btr record!!!!!!!!! Oakie has never been a technician but I heard really classic tracks from his cream days which totally blew my mind (transa - prophase & Armin - Blue Fear ) I heard Phynn drop three tracks and mix solidly but I was too tired to stay. BIG thanks to twisted for even attempting this show.........I had fun seeing alot of people smiling and dancing. Mirks |
