oakie deffinatly needs an attitude adjustment.... that guy was waaaaaaaay too full of himself.... sure hes a huge international dj... but he pretty much acts like he is a god or something.. pfffftttt.... me and aman were standing on the stage and one of his groupies comes up to us... " i dont know who you guys are but what are you doing here??" aman is like "dude im a dj playing tonight.." hes like.. "oh.. well thats ok then"... pffffft.. who the fuck do u think u are buddy.... asshole. Then we watched as oakie paced back and forth... stand there lookin all bored ... he wouldnt even cue the rekkid... just kinda stand there... after all of that... i didnt even feel like wasting MY time to get an autograph.... he deffinatly dissapointed me .. especially for a trance dj.... guess ill stick to tiesto & AvB... theyre actually nice and enjoy what they do.... i deffinatly will not go out of my way to see oakie again... oh well....
pyhnn was awesome! he played a pretty good set from what i saw .. and he seemed a little bit more happier to be there.... good energy! :) someone deff has to bring him back! chrisitians set was trippin me out the whole time...(pot cupcake.. hehe.) good stuff! nice to see some of you there.... lauren i hope your foot is ok!! ~V |

the Freestylers were the best part of that show. those old school hip hop breaks had the whole room going off. props to all of those that kept coming up to me. ga ga ga GGGG uuNNiiiiiiiTT |

yea, right after oakenfold mixed into a track, he just walked over to the side to lean against a wall, twiddled his thumbs, waiting for the song to end... then comes back and mixed into the next one. repeat cycle. and this went on for 90 minutes of the most uninspired DJing i have ever seen.
when i got there at 11:30... the vibe (if there even was such a thing) was non-existant. the locals in the beginning were obviously having some problems with the equipment, cuz there were some parts that just sounded brutal. but to give credit to these locals... they know what the crowd likes, and that's hard stuff... and they gave it. i was kinda expecting that maybe oakie would come on at 2am and save the party. nope... didn't happen. and just for the record, oakie needs to get a decent haircut... his haircut (which should be named dog's breakfast) plus that thing he calls his face makes him one of the ugliest muthafuckas ive ever seen! |

Interesting show, got there super late after a hard nite of flyering lol. This party had alot of potential i think. When i got there the crowd looked good, the lineup was decent, the only problem was the venue. It ruined the whole vibe. When i got in there, the venue gave me an bad vibe. It was too dark in the main room, the breaks room looked like someone set up some decks in an underground parking lot. Sound was horrible.....agrodome is definately the shittiest massive venue i've been to, EVER! Too bad Twisted had to find out the hardway. Don't we all wish that plaza was still around. If crave was at plaza i'm sure the show would have been better in almost all aspects that the show lacked such as sound and vibe.

man the freestylers rocked my night
there was a house room? :o hahahah fuck i didnt bother wandering to the other side of the venue...i didnt like too much of it...i give props for the effort, it turned out real good but the acoustics in the venue just gave me an iffy feel when the freestylers layed down the dnb...fuck i died...soo dope oakenfold didnt even get excited when every1 was chanting OAKIE!! OAKIE!! he just gave a look and this wierd point props to twisted on a good show |

Interesting night none the less. got there at 9:45, and was quite intriqued that there was absolutely no lineup. My friends and I were like the first ones in. Where's the DJM-600 guys!? :p That rotary mixer definately caused a lot of problems for the local DJs aswell as the decks skipping or other sound problems which thankfully were resolved by the time Oakie was on. As de-ken mentioned, the rear speakers in the main room sounded horrible. The only decent sound was near the front of the stage. The place was pretty empty until at least 12:30 then it really started to fill up. Wasn't all too impressed with Oakenfold's set either... He definately didnt seem in the mood to play. The calm prog. tracks he was playin really bored me to death. Phynn layed down a wicked set. What I did notice is that there was a lack of 15/16 year olds(I guess that's a good thing, heh) They must all be too broke to afford 2 massives back to back. Old school ravers were definately in full force, aswell as masses of nammers. :p Met several new peeps including a guy from Holland who's visiting Vancouver. All and all, decent party. Cya all at IMF!
btw, I'm uploading all my pics to the gallery, watch out for them Last edited by dSl-DuDe; Jun 28, 04 at 06:27 AM. |

Well for my first "PNE venue" experience it wasnt as bad as most say I think...
Main room stage was very rad... however the sound was just a huge disapointment trying to listen too oakie. "Okie is ugly!" and very sad to see him passing back and forth 3 feet bihend the decks looking like board shit. But then there were the freestylers!!! Those guys have some awsome curisma :y: Even if some of there stuff sounded/was like ryan and kraig's... they brought a wicked vibe in that room :D Again had a great time time meeting and seeing many of you, flyering, the mouse, and cousin trouble where nessesary :) Sad I had to leave in such a hury for work at 9am and didnt get to say good bye... but then I realize that its tazix's car parked behind mine :kam: If only I had a pen in my car!!!! All in all it was a fun night. Everything said about Oakenfold is true, he stood on stage looking as bored as I've seen any DJ. What is it about getting a certain status that suddenly makes you loathe the art?
Even when he was into about one progression during the entire set, he barely looked excited when the whole crowd was cheering. He left the stage early without any applause, enough said. The highlight of the whole night? Hands down Phynn. The guy was so talented, so many good tracks, had the whole jaded audience back on the floor screaming for more. He's young ( only 19 ) and wasn't tarnished by the industry yet, you could see him loving the crowd, the music , and the scene. Bring him back soon! Love that little guy! |

I enjoyed the party. I made myself have a good time. I was really looking forward to getting my groove on in the house room, but of course to everyone's dissapointment: "what lyrics?" I liked the smoke pit, it was good to be able to sit on some grass and look up at the stars.
Yes, it all depended where you stood in the main room to make the difference. I got there around 10ish, and I was walking behind Montana & Res, and notice this european looking guy.. "Phynn?" -- Sure enough, I got my pic taken with him. That man is a great performer, got to chat a bit with him after his set - Flawless, I really enjoyed it. Uplifting, energy - all good. Oakenfold was no good. I liked that he dropped New Born and Southern Sun, other then that I could care less, I went up front, smiled, waved, when he gave me the thumbs up I fingered him. I dont think he liked that too much. Rumors have it he dabbles in the cocaine, but of course those may just be rumors - but would explain "nobody in the world is cooler then me." vibe he gives off. Shoutouts to everybody I saw and met! Den8r, dsl, j0, rav3r, lunchbox, akeel, pussy_kat (stalker) - charlie2na (are you following me?) thanks for coming with me yet again, loren (crispin) - I SAW WINSTON! Optics, tazix, azim, neal (good demo by the way), rhia, tina, kyle, matt, tripple d, hirshee, kamal, jimboski, dlo, and of course HARPO! Memorable tracks; sunday afternoon, love comes again, new born, born slippery, gouryella, blue fear, godd, komodo, rush, satellite, dub.. I enjoyed my night. Good company, good music, good party. Thanks Twisted! |

Wow...
Quite an intresting night.... I guess it wasn't just me that noticed it... There were a lot of older / old skool ravers there! that was nice to see... getting them outta retirement for one last party... I had a headache the entire night... was not pretty... Freestylers were awesome. I wanted to dance but my legs wouldn't move. so i just stood and yeah. lol... I can't wait until oakenfold comes back to vancouver.... the guy needs a good pie in the face. anyways... it was a good party. I think most of the people there did end up having fun. None the less... This headache has yet to go away.... even after sleep... I think i'll go run down to the store and get some tylenol. |

I have mixed feelings about this party. And questions...many questions. Why is it that with a massive like this, that none of the local DJs are made aware of the type of equipment they'll be using. When the standard gear for mainroom stages is a Pioneer DJM 600 at least two technic turntables and a maybe a pioneer cdj or two. Is it really that difficult to let your hired DJs know that Oaky has requested a Rane rotary mixer? I just think it would be common courtesy to let them know, so they can at least look up the specs on the net or wherever to better familiarize themselves w/ the gear. Its not unreasonable, to say the least. I felt so bad for Kamal, Montana, Res, and Dennis, because their difficulties were obvious, that plus the major needle jumping as the night progressed.
As far as acoustics in all three rooms, yes they were not the best, but from what I could tell, they couldn't be improved much by changing the setup. I did NOT enjoy Oakenfold's set at all from what I saw. Out of the hour I bothered to watch him, he did one little hop and spent the rest of the time twiddling his thumbs, pacing back and fourth, looking at his watch, and performing only half decent mixes. Also, his track selection...way too mellow for a rave. I would expect that kind of stuff from an opening DJ. Maybe its been too long since he played a massive "rave", because you would think a DJ with as much experience as Oakenfold would know how to enliven an audience. He couldn't even be bothered to grace the crowd with a hint of enjoyment. Yes, Oaky, we understand that you spend half your time in airports and taking cat naps at hotels and we know that you're probably really tired, but c'mon, when you are making as rediculous an amount of money as you are, some might say you owe us just a tiny shred of thanks? respect? I don't know what the word is. Trance heads, like the older crowd in attendance last night, have bought your records and cds for years now and you basically couldn't give a rats ass about them or their expectations. Yes its hard to live up to all your own hype, but you could at least do your personal best. I hope Phynn never gets as big as you, because obviously, power trips (like the one your on) corrupt. You definitely lost some fans with this lackluster performance. On a positive note, you made Phynn look that much better. Wow, that guy was great, definitely needs to come back for a club night and SOON. Likewise, the Freestylers, who threw down some of the sickest old and new funky ass breaks I've heard in a long long time. Those Beastie Boys tracks went off sooo hard. Azim also had everyone going off for the final hour of the show, no surprise there, he played some great stuff, simply put. Kraig, you mentioned some problems with the setup in the breaks room but for the time I was in their for a portion of your set and the Freestylers' it seemed fairly decent. I was, however, disappointed with the lack of effort put into the house room. Way too bright, two big white pinspot lights and no intel lighting from what i could tell. I didn't go in there all night after briefly touring it, as all I could hear were mids and highs in that room/hallway thingy. Despite all this, I had a great time. Met some new faces, lots of old ones, here are the notables: Neoh, yes front and center, buddy, see you at IMF...front and center again. Julie, thanks for ditching you know who to party with us, had lots of fun with you. Kamal, my condolences on your set man, it had the potential to be huge. Dennis, a little proggy, but good nonetheless, sorry you were feeling sick later on, hope you dumped Oaky at the bus station, lol. Shawn, thanks for your company, you're a standup guy, and a good friend, I'm really glad we met. Jeff, Jaclyn, Amanda...you guys are awesome, nuff said. Neal, Charlie, Ben/Bozga, Lunchbox and everyone else, good seeing you all too. Despite a slow start, I genuinely had fun at this party, and I would do it all again, because Crave, really is what you make of it, and when you get right down to it, its all about the people you share the experience with. Thank you Twisted for reminding me of that. Its nights like last night that make me so happy to be in this scene. |

Decided totally last minute to attend this party and I'm glad I did.
Considering the size and shape of the venue I was actually quite impressed with the sound. I never wandered far from the main stage while Oakenfold was on b/c I wanted to hear him spin Gamemaster sooo bad but was not all that impressed with him so I went to the breaks stage was was like woah! I should have been here from the start! That was hands down the best breaks set I've ever heard!!! Wow. I had never even heard of Freestylers before this party (what can I say I'm a trance addict) but man they kicked ass. (did oakey ever play gamemaster?) Thank you Jeff for taking me to this party and thanks Amanda for coming with us. That was a fun sketchy sunday morning. (I wasn't agro for once!) To my friends I saw last night, you all kick ass. The coat check girls were sooo nice, I kept getting them to put more and more stuff into my jacket pockets, after a couple times they knew me and my jacket haha. The only thing I didn't like about the venue was that there was nowhere comfortable to sit, those bleacher seats are awful and there was no carpet to sit on the floor, sigh I'll miss plaza. See you all at imf next weekend. |
