man o man, I was really psyced and pumped to play at this party. I arrived 15 mins before the set and was brought into the breaks room with Kraig and he informed me that there were some major sound issues. The sound techs were to fix the problem within the first couple of mins of our set. There was no bass whatsoever comming out of the bassbins and the monitors seemed to be louder than the main speakers. After the sound guys turned up the volume on the main system, we had to turn the volume down from the mixer as the bass was giving feedback to the tables. At one point in the early part of our set i had the bass vertually turned completely off so that it wouldnt feedback. This pretty much killed it for me and I was completely out of it after that. Finally the sound guys got us some foam to put under the tables which fixed ALL the sound issues near the end of our set.
As for the Freestylers, anyone who knows me can tell you that I am a huge fan of theirs and I was real hyped to see them play but I was extremely dissapointed with their set. Not that they played bad music by any means, but 90% of the tracks that they did play, I had already in my record box! Now I am just a local dj and I keep pretty current with tracks but when you hear someone like the Freestylers you expect to hear mad NEW unreleased tracks that wont be out in 9 months(youd think that they get everything sent to them from producers around the world?) and crazy rare tracks never to see the light of day. I dont think thats too much to expect from one of the biggest producers in the breaks scene when I say this. Anyways, it was a great effort put on by the Twisted crew! It had the right elements to be a great party but its just too bad that the venue ended up not excepting the sound to well. Now I look forward to hearing Krafty Kuts this Thursday!! |

Missed this event, and was going to kick myself in the ass for missing Oakenfold, but by the sounds of it now, looks like I didnt miss much. I knew it being in the Agrodome, I knew the sound quality wasn't going to be the best, oh well.
Hopefully IMF will make up for it, im ready. |

i love the tunes that the likes of montana, rez, and tazix play, just when it happens so early oakie probably got pretty pissed off....he is used to crazy residents oppening for him who know how to properly warm things up for a progressive dj...anyone remember kevin shiu oppening for tiesto, or the residents at vivid when a huge guest comes in....proper People who love oakie most often hate that style of trance that is at twisted events.....which is why i was so confused to see the line-up...and not entirely suprised by the tunrout.....weird cause oakie played the commodore last year and easily sold it out to a 19+ crowd... |

Well time for me to drop in here. Sorry I'm finally recovering from the weekend. First I would like to comment on the sound thing. We spent several hours/days going over a variety of set-up and speaker placement to achieve the best possible sound in a very resonant enviroment. During the day you could stand in the center of the room and clap your hands and hear it come back to you 10 times. With out the use of expensive sound dampening materials we came to the best possible set-up we could. I would like to say thanks to Kraig for his support on this issue as we did indeed take every measure possible to try and eliminate as much of the resonance as possible.
Well I was relly looking forward to Paul Oakenfold as I have seen him before but a few years ago and found his set to be rather entertaining. Unfortunetly I can say one word "EGO". From the moment he arrived at the venue he had many sly comments in regards to everything about the event. If you don't want to do an event then you shouldn't have booked it. I have never seen a Dj speak to people in the manner which I saw him doing. Maybe he was flying on something but this is not an excuse for a person in his position. I really liked the stage set-up and thought it did the job it needed to do. There must be specials for Mr.Oakenfold. For a guy that demands so much from the production team he doesn't try and make things simple that's for sure. It was nice to see some old familiar faces out in the crowd. Big props to twisted and their entire crew. Azim as always a pleasure to work with. Kraig and Precise what can I say you guys above any other DJ's made the best of a bad situation and that is what I expect from the proffesionals you are. To the PNE boys thanks for the hard work you rocked on set-up and strike days. I still had a good time at this party as in any party it is what YOU make it. Looking forward to the next Twisted event at another location. Ladies and gentlemen that's it for me have a great week and for all those going to IMF have a good time as I'm outta town. Take care G |

i walked into the main room to hear oakie spin, but that lasted like 5mins becuz he sucked ass compared to what i was expecting.. K, and the main rooms sound was done pretty good for the venue and all sound reflection issues in it.. but for the breaks room and the house room.. it should have been improved majorly by the way the speakers were placed, masterplan setup those speakers like it was a highschool dance in some big gym with no thought at all, they were wide ass rooms with cement everywhere inculding the back wall, there is a way to fix that stuff up just by movin the speakers around the room to compensate for bounced soundwaves.. there was no attention put towards those rooms in thought for sound, if there was it would have been wayyy better.. but im gunna go try and stretch out my legs now so i can use them again, haha peace |
