man... a few years of partying makes a big difference
i partied at the agrodome in 2000 at some party called Mayday. anyone remember that? I think donald glaude was playing there. i thought the venue was pretty good. i guess i was just stupid 4 years ago! |
|

i wonder how many shirts Oakenfold actually sold at the party..
or even like how old are those T's you know.. they could be years old.. cause they looked used i mean.. yay. im gonna buy a shirt and remember my OAkenfold experience for ever.. cause i experienced oakenfold.... but the experience sucked asss .. i feel sorry for that one guy who bought a shirt and he was wearing at the party.. poor fella.. 1st time to a rave, 1st time doing E, first time even talking to a girl or even holder her hand... poor fella.. |

not only was oakenfold an asshole...was he high??? i swear, there is no way that man was sober...he was swaying around like a mofo, and looked so pist....i actually like the sound....the reverb was a trip...haha, oaky apun traffic, which was spun at fever too....the security was really nice...it was a nice break from the assholes at genesis....but yea, people were getting hella pisst at tazix....poor guy,....it was kinda annoying though, especially cuz the energy was pretty high when he started, and then everyone got so pissed....ok, explain something to me....WHY WAS "HERO" SHOWING ON THE SCREENS?????

A few years of partying does change but everyones perspective on these events has changed. The audience is much more opinionated in regards to the set-ups and to some degree I agree with it. Back in the day you would spend 20 - 30 bucks on a show and you'd get a good time but who cares about the set-up at that price. When you are spending upwards of $50 a ticket you can understand that people wish to see there moneys worth. It's just sometimes alot harder than people think when balancing tight budget parameters. I think I speak for everyone when I say that we all do aour very best to give the audience the best bang for their entertainment dollar but some peoples expectations are a little unrealistic. For instance a decent laser show will run you in the $2,500.00 dollar range alone. Then your average sound system for three rooms is going to run you in the range of 6-8 thousand and then on top of this you usually will see a bill of about 8-10k for lighting and 4-5 thousand for video. Last thing on the list is labor and delivery and that tab will be somewhere around 7 thousand. So as you can see the bills get racked up pretty fast especially considering we haven't talked about security, police, ambulance, venue staff, also the venue itself as well as the costs that come along with that ie power, garbage removal/cleanup and on and on. At the end of all this you have to supply talent which costs anywhere from 20 - 40k depending on whom you are getting and that is their cost not including hotels flights and food expenses. That $50 ticket gets used up very quickly as you can see.

oakenfold's rider always has the rane rotary mixer on it. He's been using that mixer since he first started dj'ing years ago.
The Rane is actually pretty easy to use, but it can be intimidating to someone that hasnt used it before. Also, its not a piece of crap, ask any audio technician or dj that knows his equipment and they'll tell you the rane rotary is still one of the best sounding mixers out there by far. Thats why it still has the expensive price tag it does even after all these years. You just don't get the same quality in a pioneer. |

LOL thank god I am not the only one that thought Olkenfold's T-Shirt's sucked ass.........shit let's play a shitty set and act like an asshole and leave early.....But hey buy my T-shirt, support my premadonna bullshit....... I have no respect for someone like that and nor will I ever pay money to see him again.

Wow... in reading all of the comments here, I really want to thank everyone for being so positive and understanding.
To be honest, I was expecting the typical immature response from some IE: Twisted sucks, they don't know how to setup a sound system, etc... It appears though everyone is understanding the the venue just plain sucks ass for accoustics. Anyway, just wanted to say thanks for the understanding from you all. As I mentioned before, that will be the last time we use that venue. As for The Freestylers -- after hanging with them all weekend, they had a great time here. They really enjoyed playing for the Vancouver crowd again and I will most likely be bringing them back out before the end of the year most likely to a club. Cheers. |

theres your first problem. 5 mins? Paul okanfold wasnt nearly as bad as you people say. He is used to playing in front of thousands of people of course hes gunna be in a shitty mood seeing a bunch of drug induced 15 year olds dancing away compared to the different "music loving" crowds hes used to. I admit his mixing wasnt phenomonal but it wasnt horrible especially compared to some big names that have played main stage (the same ones you losers praise week after week) playing what he played at 4am is almost the equivalant to someone jumping up there and playing breakbeats at the same time (its not going to be welcomed) but unfortunately everyone is dependent on anthem style hard rave trance. the djs on before paul should have played music according to what he was playing which doesnt mean playing hard trance at 10pm. |
|

If he played breaks at least people would have danced to it.
Come on... a guy that has spun as much as he did should have been able to tell that the crowd wasn't getting into his set and change it up. A DJ of his "calibre' should be able to mix just about any trance record right? He could have grabbed any of the other DJ's record bags and borrowed some of the records, I'm sure he must of heard of some of those tracks being who he is, and mixed them. Unless he planned to play a sub 130bpm to put people to sleep I find it inexcusable how his set ended up. |

i've gotta admit that his mixing wuzn't bad...it wuz aight but yes he should have played harder but the one thing that pisses me and everyone else that saw that monkey lookAlike wuz the fact that his attitude wuz so shitty...like comeon show sum fuckN respect to the ppl who came to see u spin...like yawning on stage (and he wuz not tired)....wut he did to danny wuz pure ass...signing a record that sumone who looks up to u and then waving him to leave...if he did that to me i'd break that record right infront of him...i hope he never comes here again cuz if he duz i hope theres sumone there who will offer him a bannana...

he plays what he played the other night around the world and has thousands dancing to some of the same toons he played. its just you "hard trance deprived losers" are so dependant on what you hear every single rave. why should a dj change his style just because we havent developed a taste for different music being played there.
