End of Douglas College parties
i guess it would only be fair to warn everybody that there will no longer be and all night parties happening at the douglas college students union buiding from now on.
i dont know if this is the bast spot for this thread but this is where im going to put it. due to some actions that happened at the last show on saterday the 15th of march being an O.D. that happened to some one that will not be mentioned, this raised some eyebrows down at the city hall that now have discovered some new by-laws restricting events within that building to the same by-laws that apply to the rest of the city being no events (unlicenced) to happen longer then 1:30 A.M. unless its a private party with no cash exchange. it is unfortunate that this has happened and it is unfortunate there some one has to O.D. but whats happend has happend. to my knowlage the individual that O.D.ed is okay and living with the guilt of their actions affecting everyone else, but at least they are safe and sound and recovering. |

well that's shitty
"the guilt of their actions" i don't know how i feel about that statement. I hope the person is feeling ok and is not about too hurt themselves in that manner again. I'm no expert but it seems to me a person taking themselves too the point of od'ing is in a state of pain, maybe it's not so much a question of stupidity? also do we know if this person took the drug willingly ? i think what we need today, with so many new young faces coming into the scene is education. We need to educate these kids on what will potentially kill them. What happend to free information tables with brochurs, even condoms etc.. ? we need to bring that back What is special about our little community i think, is that we see a problem and we band together too solve it. Loosing yet another venue is going to be hard on us, it is, but i think we need to address safety and education first. Without this being our priortity there is room for this too happen again and more venues or more importantly LIVES will be lost. Last edited by cinist; May 19, 04 at 09:17 AM. |

good point cinist...
with the free informations tables and stuff like that, from a small time promoter is a little on the expencive side... if those services were offered free to promoters then im sure there would be alot more of them... but still good point non-the-less |

IT was a lot of hard work into making that a venue for us to use, but I seem to think that it was only a matter of time for something like this to happen. New West already had that by-law in place, and we were using douglas as a private venue just hoping that all would go well! I guess that's what you getfor trying too hard. It's ok. NNP is going to be moving on to something new!
