Koolwaters is an unknown quantity at this point
May 30th: Koolwaters - Creation, Stoke.

On the strength of its recent events Koolwaters is rapidly leaving its lovely smelly mark on clubbers up and down the UK. Having been part of the scene for a sniff under four years, the club is beginning to grow in the eyes of club land.

Having heard of Koolwaters from its conquests in the south I was intrigued to see how their brand of no nonsense, straight to the point hard house and trance shenanigans would fair. And to but it bluntly…they did good, very good!

Whilst the night wasn’t as busy as I had expected it was clear to see that the party continues when the waters are in the house. As a wise man once said “You can’t keep a good party down!”

Creation itself is an interesting venue with two rooms, one being a main room and the other a reception/bar area. As well as the raised VIP section, the club also has two chill-out rooms with one offering the hungrier clubber the choice for quick snack. Whilst creation may be seen to be a commercial venue it must be said that the layout it fantastic for a good club night and the sound system is far better than most real clubs in the UK. It was also pleasure to be in a club that had clean toilets

On entering the main room we were hit with the godfather of the Koolwaters outfit, Marc Vedo. A DJ with an abundance of talent, Marc’s set drove a pumping vibe throughout the club. A well-constructed set that built nicely, one by one seeing the dance floor grow in mass. Following from Marc was Jurgen Vires a.k.a Darren Tate.

Now I was a bit skeptical on hearing Darren’s set as I was expecting more cheese than dairy section at Tesco’s however, I was proven very wrong as Darren had no problem keeping the crowd locked into a groove. Darren produced a strong and well-guided journey in to the world of trance building into harder tougher trance.

The last twenty minutes of Darren’s set saw him raise the level in time for the dynamic production duo of Prime Mover. The duo being known for having had such dance floor stormer’s such as ‘Black Dogs’ and ‘Here’s Johnny’. I was really anticipating their set and not just because it was going to be ‘live’, but because this was the first time I would get to see these guys rock the boat and believe me, these two know just how to do it!

Last set of the night was handed to hard house god Andy Farley, a firm favorite with the crowd from their large cheer at his entrance to the DJ booth.

In the comfort of the excellent Farley I was quickly beginning to lose my mind for a few hours, which meant a moment in the ‘chill’ was needed. It was fair to say I found the people and atmosphere in the club very vibrant and one that is a great asset to the night. It was also good to see Marc and the rest of the Koolwaters team hanging around the club throughout the night, we even managed to grab hold of loon of the bunch Vass:

“Leading on from past events we are beginning to see great support from clubbers who attend Koolwaters. Unquestionably clubbing is about the people and it’s the people that make the night, their energy is the atmosphere but if the venue holds no
place then the place holds no people. Creation offers us the chance to give the people want they want, it’s a place we want to make home”
Last year was a bad year for the scene but in some ways was also a good thing. Many clubs and DJ’s shifted places from their comfy spots and a large collection of new and old came through. Whilst Koolwaters is not the UK’s fastest growing club, it is definitely a club that is growing fast!

All I can say is when is the next one?
