Rennie Pilgrem appreciation thread!

Big up to all that attended the show on Wednesday with Rennie Pilgrem at Lotus. Wicked crowd that was fully up for it. Rennie played loads of exclusives off his upcoming new album.... most of the tracks were about 50-70% finished according to him.... couldn't tell though.
A side note.... Andrew Spence (aka DJ Slim) opened for Rennie in Victoria the next night doing the "Sax & Decks". Rennie was so impressed with Andrew's sax playing that he signed him to play on 2 tracks on his new album that will be out in the fall! That is so bloody cool.... if anyone knows Andrew (and I know this is a relatively young board) he is the original "Nu Skool" breakbeat DJ in Van. He was who introduced the music of Rennie Pilgrem to me 5 years ago when I moved here from Whistler.... b4 then I was playing every Big Beat record I could get my hands on. So cool to see things go full circle.... especially for Andrew.... he really is the top breakbeat DJ in Canada (in terms of staright skills).... and is one hell of jazz musician as well. Just thought i'd let everyone know about that.....

Anyways once again much love goes to all those that supported on Wednesday.... we got more in store for the summer.... but b4 I get into who we got passing through town, I just would like to say.... SUPPORT YOUR LOCALS people. We have been doing the "twentyHz" series on Wednesdays at the Lotus since November and have had some huge nights (ie. Freeland (twice), Rennie, Chris Carter).... but it seems when we don't have the big show we struggle to get a good crowd. Any number of our residents ... Czech, Soda, Priceless, Shakes, Murcutt, Vinyl Ritchie and Andrew Spence can be seen each week.... and I'll tell you.... they're the top the city has to offer for breaks.... plus we've had top local cats such as Precise, Kraig, Cinto, Johhny Fever, Soma, G-Rock, Lenny Ford, DJ Wood, Kenya, Muchi Mambo.... and many more pass through. These DJs are just as good as the big boys that pass through and it's only $5 each week. Come people.... show your love for the local breaks scene.

Upcoming highlights.....

June 30th - Canada Day Breaks w/ Tipper (2 rooms Breaks & DnB open till 3)
July 28th - Angus Robinson (Release Records/ Toronto)
Aug 4th - Jon from Fort Knox Five (Fort Knox/ USA)
Aug 18th - Shambhala After Party (Line Up TBC)
Sept 22nd - Stanton Warriors (679/ UK) ** THE LAST TWENTYHz**
