Filo and Peri @ Plush
Let me first start by thanking Union for putting on such a great show and bringing these top notch DJs to Vancouver.
Danny T started slow but his las 3 or 4 song were banging. I know that he had to slow his set down but you made the best of a slow thing. Who was the 2nd guy, was all in white, bald, played in viva yesterday, from montreal i think. Didn't catch his name, but he really brought the funk. He had the best of progressional quite parts and loud base that seemed to get everyone off the floor. Filo and Peri, what can i say, they were simply kick ass. There was only 1 real time that people noticed a bad mix. What happened with Rio - Fearless, it seemed to be skipping every 30 secs, ah well they really know how to party in NY it seems. DJ Nemesis, damn you had a killer set! I can't stress to people reading this that Nemesis knows what Vancouver wants and brings it to them. I was only dissappointed that you didn't get to play longer. Bringing old hits like PVD for an angle and big big anthems, it might have been one of the best live sets i have heard this year. Alpha one has always been one of my fav CDs and now i know why i keep returning to it. There was a lot of people i knew/met so i'm not going to bother with a shoutout part cus i'm a little tired still $$ |

This was definitely a great show. F&P laid down quite a few classic tracks last night. A few rough mixes but overall a very good set ended with "Under the Sun" which some how never ceases to go off. It would've been nice to hear more of their own productions considering they have like 8 tracks out this year alone but they're track selection remained of high quality. Long story short they rocked it. End of story :)

Filo & Peri absolutely rocked! They started off with some bangin house and blended nicely into trance for the heart of their set. These two have a lot of energy and personality on the stage (definitely not women shy) ;)
I was hoping to hear more of their own tracks, but they sure did treat us to some nice tunes. Also the dj from Montreal really played well too. Nice to see him partying it up during F & P. Thanks to union for bringing it hot new talent. Peace, Rich |

Saturday was a great night for sure.. all the effort I put in for planning things out and getting marty and adam to bring these guys up here was well worth it. They played a broad range of stuff consisting of house, progressive, breaks, techno, and trance! People that were expecting them to just show up and play all trance were definetely a bit surprised, but it definetely made for a fun mix and some unexpected tracks that went over really well. My night had it's pros and cons a few of which being:
PROS -Both Bo and Dom had a great time and played anything BUT a predictable set. They definetley rocked it and proved how versatile they are. -Beastie Boys 'fight for your right to party' remix that Bo played -c1999 sounded wicked when Dom played it and got to see Plush's reaction to hearing it for their first time. The build is absolutely massive on it for sure. -A couple unexpected breaks tracks which made a few ppl really stoked to hear. -Seeing the regulars out having fun. -Had fun pulling out a couple classic tracks such as the one I opened with. :) -Security was cool. Although they thought I put a cap of E in my gf's mouth when it was actually just an ice cube for her to chew on! I made a point of explaining that when I saw the guy so as not to give the wrong impression (the girls were trashed by then so I can see why he would have been concerned if I HAD been giving her E!) CONS -A couple of times the tracks skipping while Bo & Dom were in the middle of a mix, causing a few of their mixxes to go to shit. (SO frustrating as I know) One time it got fucked up from too much dust on the needle. -Something weird going on with legalities to do with running the club past 2am I was told when I first arrived. Meaning I might not play longer than a few tracks and making me abandon the set I wanted to play in favor of just making sure to get a few specific tracks played. Though in the end the night went to 3am afterall. -My gf and 2 of her friends getting too excited for the night and ending up completely wasted and and having to leave right before I played my set and me worrying about them. (really sucked) -Soundsystem putting out way to much high end and screaming sound while I played, even though I kept turning the highs down more and the bass up to compensate. Definetely didn't seem to be as much bass as usual there. a few tracks from Bo & Dom's set included: Filo & Peri - c1999 Whirlpool vs Octagen - Alaska Marco V. - Godchild Beastie boys - Fight for your right 2004 (Junkie XL remix) Danny Marquez & Ferry B - Afrocatalans (Ian Carey mix) Whirlpool - Under the sun Oceanlab - Beautiful Together (signum rmx) *by request of the guy with the sign! We definetely have to get these guys out again next year. See you guys at Signum next sat. :) P.S. For those of you that enjoyed my set go download the new mix on my site which has a few of the tracks in it!! (in case I haven't promo'd that set enough already! :) www.djnemesis.com/html/radio.html |
