Kraig
DJ Name: Kraig Email: [email protected] Contact: Email preferred Genre Of Music: Breaks (Funky), House (Vocal/Sexy & Soulful) Affiliations: Twisted / CARGO / BLUE DJ bio for flyers (corny I know :p) Funky - That best describes the style of music that Kraig loves to play. Although he is most passionate about the sound of Breakbeats, Kraig can also be found dropping the sweet sounds of soul, funk and vocal House music. In addition to DJing, Kraig handles all aspects of marketing, promotions and bookings of the world-class Breakbeat and House talent for Twisted Productions / CARGO Entertainment in Vancouver, Canada. Over the last 4 years, hes had the opportunity to play alongside some of the best in Breakbeat and Funk: Krafty Kuts, The Freestylers, Atomic Hooligan, A. Skillz, The Bassbin Twins, Fort Knox Five, The DrumAttic Twins, Kid Kenobi, Aquasky, DJ Icey, DJ Dopey, Dig-Dug, Big League Chu, Czech, Vinyl Ritchie, DJ Fixx, Sharaz, Tony Faline, Matt the Alien, Myagi and the Smalltown DJs to name a few. If funky groovin beats is what you enjoy dancing to, then chances are Kraig will have something in his bag to keep you moving! How long have you spinning the decks for? Over 4 years now. What originally hooked you into the DJ'ing scene? Well, I've been promoting/throwing events a lot longer than I've been DJ'ing. I was encouraged by my friends around me, people like Deliverance, Azim and a few others to start DJ'ing myself. I started with Breakbeats and now find myself playing a lot of House. I'll play anything from those two genres so long as it has funky and live elements too it. What type of music do you specialise in? Breaks/mid-tempo funk although lately I've been playing a lot of Vocal and Soulful House as well. Like Akeel, I've been known every now and then to crack out my drum machine and do some live percussion during a set. Most expensive vinyl that you have paid for? - how much was it? Hmmmmmm... I guess it would have to be the FSUK 2 compilation that cost me I think it was $75US plus shipping. What is your most treasured record and why? Oh man... this is a tough one. I have lots of records I treasure. I guess for its "anthem" quality, a record that will always go off, and yes I know has been cained to death is The Freestylers - Ruffneck. It fuses everything I love about music... Breaks, Hip Hop sounds, funk and vocals. What recent events have you played at? I am very lucky to have been invited to play LOTS of events over the years which I am thankful for. These have been in Vancouver, Victoria @ Hush, Nanaimo (thanks Jer), Calgary, Edmonton and Whistler several times. I've been meaning to get overseas as I've been offered a few bookings over there, but my work schedule hasn't allowed for it yet. What National / International clubnights have you played at? I've not played in the US or overseas. Have you got any DJ'ing horror stories? Oh God yeah... typically it happens when either 1.) I am hammered (IE: beyond drunk) - I have a few stories around that and 2.) are over-tired and so I don't really want to be there! Are you a resident DJ, if so where? Monthly residency at Bar None on the last Friday of every month and on every long weekend Sunday. I'll also play once or twice a year at Soul Kitchen which is Czech's night at Tommy Africa's in Whistler. Tag sets: Yep... I've played a ton of these. I used to tag often with Omega_Image (On the Roxx reprazent wut?!) and Cinto (the girls love the CAK!). For Breaks, Precise and I tag often and have a blast doing it. With House, I have the opportunity to play alongside some of Vancouver's best - Christian Alvarez, Hirshee, Charlie Tuna, Skilla and more. Any other information? I have huge respect for the talent we have in this city both on the DJ and Production front. As DJ'ing isn't my full time job, every time I watch a lot of the DJ's listed in this forum, I learn something new. I also want to thank my friends locally and a couple in the UK for the consistent support you have shown me over the years! Peace. Last edited by Kraig; Sep 24, 06 at 08:46 AM. |

Clearly you have no understanding of me, my friendship/relationship with Azim or any other promoter in this city or others. How about this... how about you go speak directly with Czech about me, my DJ'ing and my ability to play a good set. He has heard me multiple times, at first hand and would have the most un-biased point of view of them all as he doesn't waste time on msg boards or frankly dudes like you.
