if you were a promoter you would know that parties that happen on the same day are never planned that way....and you would also know that its a lot harder to change a date then you think, you ever think of losin DJ or venue deposits that have been payed months beforehand. I hope you have a great time at summer breakz but the only "lame" thing I see here is the unnecessary bashing.

secondly if you would of read the post correctly it states that the party is at Riverside and also what makes you so mad to start callin the Maritime centre the Loser centre? I have seen many memorable shows there and its the ONLY cost efficient venue left in Vancouver. Should be happy that we atleast still
have a place to party at.... I'm sure not too many people would agree with what your sayin. peace

Party is gona be dope no matter what. And plus these guys have been planning this show for months and months even before anyone heard of summerbreaks. And once u put a deposit down for a dj, venue it aint refundable. Best of luck with the show guys.

i personally like Riverside! the printing on the flyer is very hard to see, thats why i coudlnt read where it was at! i respect promoters and all for keeping this scene happenning. i wish u all best of luck with this party, and hopefully next time i would be able to attend yours!


ps i dont like marytime, and the reason i called it loosertime because only looser will pay 100$ to a rave at marytime (unless there is someone very very good to see, like benny benassi or something..)
marytime is way too small and prices for raves i sometimes find overpriced!

I am not taking sides, but as a promoter you don't always get the option of choosing your date. If you have done an event of this scale you may already know this. Management companies offer dates to promoters that the DJ may only be available on. For instance Junior may only have been available on August 20th. Personally for me and in my experience, date has never EVER been my number one priority, it has always been when it is convenient for the DJ's to come. Granted my shows are generally around a certain date.

Also, he doesn't have to answer to anyone. I don't get why he needed to let the "word out" that he is doing a party on any date. If he chooses to do the a party the same day as another, then so be it. It is the risk of being a promoter. He is offering something to those that don't like an outdoor show, which is an indoor party.

No one asked me if it was okay for Dooms Night to be on the same day as Spooky, but oh well, that is business. Competition in the scene never hurt anyone. I think it is disrespectful and unprofessional as a promoter to publically bash another company for choosing to do their party when they want to.

But the thing is, there is enough people. Not everyone goes out to shows at the same time. Spooky and Dooms are a perfect example. Both sold out shows on the night of the event: The coliseum has a capacity of 6000 and Plush has a capacity of 1100. That is 7100 people out.

Riverside has a capacity of 1300, and well, Popkum has no capacity. So even if the hall party sold out, Summerbreaks has the potential to get over 5000 people.

I think that the Riverside show will sell out. I also think Summerbreaks will do well. I say kudo's to both events and good luck.
